Extended Battery & Quick Charge

Two questions:

Does anyone know if there's a plan to release an extended battery for the phone?

Is there any charger out there that can (safely) give the phone a shot in the arm charge speed wise? It's entirely unacceptable that it takes twice as long to charge the thing than to completely drain it!

I completely love the device, but the battery life - as people have noted - is horrendous when 4G enables. I have to manually keep using the "exploit" shortcut to turn it off; it was doing alright holding on 1G when I went to sleep, but I got a phone call in the middle of that, and it died in under an hour.

Likewise, when I try to charge it with 4G enabled, it takes five+ hours to get half a charge. It's just insane.

Anyway, here's to hoping someone makes an app that will automatically manage the 4G setting for you, since 99.9% of the time it's not needed and is a horrendous design flaw that it runs so much the phone turns into a blisteringly hot microwave that drains it's battery in an hour. High speed isn't all that useful if your phone is always dead!

I totally feel your pain. I am getting another battery, I should get it sometime next week. I have been playing around with Juice Defender, and that hasn't been doing it for me. I usually turn my phone off to charge. It takes about 1-1/2 to charge 100%.

A coworker has also recommended a portable battery charger, but I am not sure how fast it charges. Here is a snippet from our company intranet page for Android tips and tricks:

Battery
My Tekkeon TekCharge MP1550 saved my Droid 2 in the afternoon more than a few times. It takes 4 AA batteries and powers any USB-chargeable device. It is $22.30 at Amazon.

If you are buying rechargeable batteries, I highly recommend Sanyo Eneloop. Unlike other NiMH batteries, Eneloop retains charges for many weeks until the moment you actually need them.

Note: the TekCharge is currently on sale for half price :)

Damn I never thought about that. You're right...if you get a call in the middle of the night while you're sleeping and the phone is silenced, you won't be able to turn off 4G mode when the phone automatically enables it after the missed call. We really need someone to create an LTE OFF monitoring app that works off the same command that Any Cut can get into...

I'm thinking if we could somehow convince the widgetsoid developer to let us use the 4g toggle button, we'd be home free. Right now, the option is greyed out cause he only has it for the htc evo...

I think perhaps we should send him an e-mail. We know it's possible to turn off 4G on the phone, and monitor it, and the Indulge desperately needs it. I would gladly pay for this app, too. It'd be entirely worth it.

the charger he is offering is mini usb this phone requires a micro usb jack, i dont think it will work for the galaxy anyhow i ordered 2 batteries, and a car charger for it on ebay, lets see how it works.

The adapter it comes with is mini but it also accepts any USB cable so you can connect your device via a regular USB cable instead of using one of the adapters.

Just got the Tekkeon TekCharger MP1550 charger in the mail today...not too bad as a rescue only though, don't depend on this for a quick and full charge.

Works on 4 AA batteries and since there is no MicroUSB adapter you can just use your USB cable to plug right into it.

I plugged my phone in at 1:00 PM with 50% battery life
After 1 hour and 20 minutes of charging I am now at 81% battery life
4 AA batteries are just about drained, so I figured you have about 90 minutes on 4 batteries and you get about a 30-35% charge on your battery.

Not bad for a rescue charger and it's only about 3x4x2 inches in size.

it also states that it charges the 4 AA batteries if there re-chargeable so you also got a AA bettery charger which isnt to shabby because i go through those a lot with my mini indoor helicoptor

I been talking to batterybay for extended battery for the indulge they have a extended battery thats fits that's from a difference samsung phone same battery but the cover does not fit good news there make one for the indulge about 3 weeks from now will be available:D

If I'm afraid someone's going to call me and turn LTE back on, I just permanently disable it:

1. Open the stock dialer and dial: **583385##

2. Choose CDMA Only

3. Reboot the phone.

You're 'nailed down' in 1x until you perform the same procedure and enable "Global" mode.
