Extended Battery - Well Worth It

Just got the extended battery (2750mAh) for half price at the Verizon store.

You're gonna think I am nuts, but I PREFER the thicker phone. I really like how it fits better in my hand.

Also, the store accidentally tagged the battery as $49 instead of $59 so I got this baby for about $25 - sweet deal.

Finally, this baby is lasting at least twice as long as my stock battery. You have no idea how good it feels to not worry if my battery will die when I step out for a bit.

I am so glad I got the extended battery - especially for around $25.

How tight is the fit on your extended battery door? Is it similar to the stock one? That's my only complaint so far. Takes almost nothing to remove it. While some may see that as a good thing, it's only going to loosen up further with time. I've got another one coming so hopefully that one will be better.

I concur - the extended battery is great. Haven't gone below 80% in a day since I installed it whereas with the standard battery I would get to 50%. Door fits fine on mine. Yes, the phone is much heavier and bulkier, but the back is nicely shaped to make it comfortable to hold (at least in my small hand).

I absolutely agree with you OP. The extended battery is so work it. I do hear creaking from time to time. I have an extended battery skin coming soon from htcpedia. I had to buy since I dropped and cracked my screen over the holidays. I hope it doesnt add to much bulk to it.

Is anyone able to post a side-view picture of the phone in hand with the extended battery/door installed? I'm having a hard time envisioning the difference in thickness. I don't even have my Rezound yet (Costco shipping soon I hope!), but I have the Living Social credit for Verizon online and a limited time to use it. I'm leaning toward using it for the extended battery, but I just need some "perspective". Thanks!

Excellent! Thanks so much!

I'm not sure if I would use the extended battery all the time, though. For those of you with prior experience with extended batteries, do any of you have it for occasional use only? I'm trying to decide between the inductive charger set-up, or the extended battery. Any input would be appreciated!

Can anyone report if there are 4g issues, and if the extended cover affects the camera at all? It looks like it would block some light coming in to that sweet wide angle lens.

Was just about to ask the same thing. I actually think the extra bulk will help with camera shake, but the lens does look very recessed with this eb case on it. Can anyone comment on this from first-hand experience?

First, on the inductive charging back, I linked to the pick on Verizon's site on another thread. It looks identical to the extended battery door. If that truly is what it looks like, you get the extra bulk but not the benefit of the extra battery, only the abillity to not have to plug in the charger. That's what I don't get about wanting inductive charging. For one pad and back cover, you're spending $110 ($40 for the cover, $70 for the pad) just so you don't have to physically plug the charger into the phone. Is that really worth it? If you want 2 charging pads (one at home, one at work) you're looking at $180. Don't mean to come off like an ass hat or anything, but I just can't see the reason for it, with the prices they are asking.

Second, I tried a few pics with my extended cover on, and could see no difference in the pics vs. the stock door.

I think it really depends on lifestyle and how you use your phone during the course of a day. I can think of pro's and con's to both battery options, but those might be different for someone else.

I'm leaning toward extended battery, but I'm still curious about how camera lens might affected as noted above.

No thanks. Coming from the incredible this phone is big enough as is. I had the extended battery and extra slim batteries with charger for my incredible and I found it much better to carry a spare slim in the event that I needed it(every other day or so) than to have a bulky ugly phone 24/7. Another plus to having a spare slim battery and a charger is that you NEVER have to charge your phone just pop out the battery swap it for the one on the charger and go.
I recommend the 2 battery and charger kits from htcexpress.com, much better quality than seideo for less money and 2 batteries vs 1.

I had both a seideo 1750mah slim battery and charger and a 2x 1800mah and charger from htcexpress for my incredible, neither were true to the mah ratings, both were better than stock 1350mah, the seideo only slightly, but the htcexpress ones were closer to the printed ratings.

I also used my girlfriends 1500mah Evo battery, and it was about equal to the seideo but not as good as the htcexpress. If I had to rate them I would say the seideo battery was 1400-1450mah and the htc express was about 1700-1750mah. The seideo battery is also falling apart.

The point of the first paragraph was that I don't understand paying around $110 just so you don't have to plug in the cord to charge the phone, it just seems like a waste since it's not difficult to plug in a charger. You still need a wall or car outlet for the charging pad, so you'd be just as easily served by keeping a spare charger in the locations where you'd use a wireless pad. If anything, it's a novelty. You're paying 10 times the cost of a regular charger just so you don't have to physically plug in the charger to the phone.

As far as the camera, I said that I had tried a few pics with the extended cover on and the cover did not show in any of the images, so it's not blocking the camera lens at all.

While I am considering the extended battery (waiting on a replacement to see if the replacement battery door fits more securely than the first one) I may return them and go to a spare standard battery. I will say this, the extended battery has been giving me double the battery life of the stock battery. So if you don't count the added bulk, it's like having 2 standard batteries, except you don't have to swap between the 2. There would be no more need to carry a charger with for the extended than there would be for 2 standard batteries.

If I keep the extended battery, I will probably only use it when I know I will be without the ability to charge it for extended periods or in a bad signal area. Most days in the location I'm in, I can get around 1 to 1.5 days out of a charge, where as with the ext. battery I get 2 to 3+ days on a charge. The only downside with the ext. battery is it takes quite a bit longer to charge, but it could easily charge to full overnight, so not really a big deal. Plus having a an ext. battery along with the standard that came with the phone is like having three batteries. The standard battery works fine with the ext. door on. However in that situation, if it was dropped and landed on it's backside, the standard battery would probably unseat (since the door isn't right against the battery to hold it in place).

I thought the extended battery rocked, since the Rez is still easy to use with one hand and STILL better than the Razr (ironic) and fit in my belt loop case I use for the Droid 3 and Razr. Feels nice to hold.

Seems people that bought the Rez already accept a thicker device, so the extended is worth it IMO. Were it not for other issues I have beaten to death already, I would have the Rezound and the extended battery.

Still, for people that get bugged with a "heavier" device, this will not convert them.

BTW, the extended plastic holster/stand that VZW sells has for the Rez makes it look like a turtle when attached. Funny. Not slamming, but DOES look like a turtle. GAMERA!

Yeah, to me it actually improves one handed usability. The hump gives you something to grip so it doesn't slip out of your hand. The only issue I have with the one I got was it doesn't snap in very securely. Others have said their's is fine (a few forum members and a sales guy at the nearest Verizon store), so I ordered a replacement. The replacement was supposed to be here today, but the truck had mechanical problems so it won't sow until tomorrow, when I won't be here. Since I'm in a rural area hopefully he'll just leave it here, otherwise the Fedex location is 85 miles away.
