Extended Battery

Anyone planning on getting the extended battery? All I can find online is the Droid X one, there doesn't seem to be one specific for the X2, but it may not be necessary to have 2 models. I like the look of the official motorola one because it barely adds any bulk to the phone. Now I just need to find a reputable retailer to buy from to ensure I don't get some knock-off.

The X accessories will work for the X2. There's a thread here somewhere that discusses the extended battery options. I believe there is one that is 1800 mah which will work with the standarad battery cover (snug fit). While there are certainly larger batteries that can be purchased with custom covers, I think I would go the route of the 1800 just so that I could still use the standard cases, docks, etc as necessary. Then again, thus far I have been very happy with the battery life as supplied on the X2. :D

I have the extended battery.. Its virtally the same size as the standard just 1800Mh over 1500Mh i believe.. It lasts me the day, no issues. Slim enough for all the docs and cradles.

I don't have any complaints about my stock battery, but if I could snag a deal on an extended (that preferably fit in the stock cover), I would.

I keep a spare OEM, but there are any number of after market ones made that will fit. It may be easier (and cheaper) just to keep an extra on hand.

I have ext battery and am happy with it.

Those of you using the extended 1800 Motorola....does it require a thicker back for the phone? Do you know if it fits into regular cases such as the Otterbox commuter? Would appreciate an estimate many hours additional you get using it.

It takes a separate battery door but will fit the otterbox case. I have both they work great together.

I figured id get the Seidio ext battery- 2600 mah for my new DX2. It had worked wonders for my DInc.

Silly me...the battery heated to 115 in minutes. I couldn't believe this. No Flash installed. I was watching YouTube.

I just ordered the Motorola BH6- 1800 mah. Shipping the 2600 back. I'm very confused as to why this overheating occurred...hopefully the Moto batt will work better.

I have tried the moto 1800 bat in about 6 different cases. All fit. Its only about 1mm thicker. I cant see any case not fitting.

1800mAh is hardly significant extension from standard 1540mAh battery. Normally how long does DX2 last under medium or moderate usage with standard battery?

I usually can get a day out of the standard OEM battery unless you use heavy wifi or video. I charge nightly so I don't worry about more than that.

OK I'm ready to pull the trigger on the Moto 1800. I thought I read somewhere that when you install it, you need to clear the battery stats somehow so the phone doesn't think you still have the stock battery. Do you recommend doing this when fully charged, fully discharged, with a terminal app or via some other method?

Got the Motorola 1840 mAh extended battery from a Verizon store. There was nothing unusual about the installation and no changes were needed in the phone settings. The technician just snapped it right in with the new back. Haven't tested it thoroughly, but I can already tell that it is lasting longer the original included one. The sales person said that it should last about 30 percent longer. The back is only slightly elevated above the surface. Also, I felt better that it fit very well in my Otterbox commuter case. I believe it should fit in most cases.

So I found the official 1800 Motorola battery on Amazon for $27 shipped. Problem is I didn't realize it doesn't come with the battery door. I know some ppl have made it fit with the old door but I don't want to take a chance. Anyone know where I can buy the door separately, and make sure it's the right color for the X2 and not the X?

Brady-

Seriously? I just ordered the X2 extended battery door from a Motorola rep. Additionally, a door with the same specs is listed on Amazon dude. So it does exist. Essentially, Droid X and X2 have same specs...almost...at least, when it comes to extended batt.

To the guy who asked the question: yes, it is available on Motorola's website and on Amazon for Droid X...which should fit your X 2. I will confirm in a few days.

I got the PowerSkin protective cover a battery, and it works great. Is a little bulky, but it does protect the phone and keeps my battery going all day and into the evening.

With just a *very* slight tweak to the legs of the stock door, the extended battery fits under it without problems. It doesn't give the screen problems that happened on the X1, either. Just take a pair of needle-nose pliers and bend the legs out *very* carefully and only about 1/4 millimeter outward. Yes, only barely at all. Door should be able to slide on now, just very snug. No more mismatching door issues. I've been running mine over a month now like this and haven't had any problems.

I'd been wondering about those PowerSkin's. So they do perform well as advertised?

Oh its a door, and it fits. I have that door. But its not the same finish, as the guy asked. The X1 and X2 have different finishes. That door doesnt MATCH finish wise. Its more of a greyish dull color, so it does indeed NOT match the finish of the X2(nor does it have the X2 symbol on the back like the orginal door). If you have a case you may not care, but if you run naked, you might. All im saying. That door is for the X1, not the X2. Does it fit? Yes. Does it match the finish like the x2? Nope, it does not.
