Got my extended battery in mail (holy humongus phone batman) but my question is since its posed to drain slower, in theory does that mean itll take longer to charge, just wondering, gonna test it out at work tomorrow

The extra bulge from the extended battery fits in the palm of your hand...i really don't even notice it.

Because to change out every day with a regular "extra" battery you have to take the whole back off, exposing the SD and UICC card slots. You want to do this EVERY day?

Plus, you couldn't control the environment or circumstances -- it would just be whenever your battery ran out! You might be in some busy place, somebody hits your elbow... Stuff goes flying!
Better to have an extended battery and you never have to do anything. Charge it when you are sleeping and it runs all day.
The major problem is LG should NEVER have put this weak 1500 mAH battery in this LTE phone. All 2nd gen LTE phones come with more (1800 mAh - 2000 mAH). Whereas, 1500 mAh is the same size battery LG put in the LG Optimus!
LG screwed up when they put a 1500 mAh battery in an LTE phone. Until VoLTE is launched, your phone has to run both CDMA and LTE radios, which is twice the load of a CDMA-only phone -- and LG puts in the exact same battery as their CDMA 3.5" Optimus in their 4.3" LTE Android?So, we have to fix the problem.

Here's one type of extended battery, which I call the "humpback whale". I think that's what you are talking about?
BUT, there's another type, which I just got:
It's a 3000 mAh extended battery (which is still twice as big as the factory 1500 mAh battery LG should NOT have put in this LTE phone)
This extended battery comes with a new back cover, which replaces the factory cover. It makes the phone thicker, but it still looks like a "normal" phone. It doesn't look freakish like the humpback whales (my opinion). I've ordered a holster which should fit my "thicker" phone, but it's not arrived yet.

Another option is the Mugen Power 1800mAh Extended Battery, which only gives you about 20% more power -- but it works with the factory case. If your regular battery is "almost" enough to get you through the day, then this slightly more powerful battery might work for you rather than the larger (3000 mAh, 3500 mAh, even 3900 mAh!) extended batteries
I feel 1800 mAh is the minimum that should be in LTE phones. All 2nd gen LTE phones come with that and more. This is what LG should have put in the phone.

i believe chazz the reason they dont put a stronger battery in these phones for metro is beacause metro is in some kind of budget since they dont make money off contracts like other carriers do so phone makers like samsung and lg kind of hold of on expensive stuff like batteries in order to sell their product to metro in a price they can afford to buy sell and make a profit.Imagine how much does each battery cost to make lets say from 1800 mah and up then metro probaly would be forced to sell these phones for even more, but anyways im sure ya get the point.

But LG also put that same battery in Verizon's LG Revolution back in early 2011. Verizon is not a budget carrier. This was a 1st gen LTE phone and LG made mistakes.

I got the 3000 mAh one from verizon for $24.99 plus tax. Thing is great...lasts all day long. Even with the 4G blazing.

A couple of questions:
1) Is there any protective cases that fit over the 3500mah bats (or others sizes)?
2) Has anyone found and sort of cradle or mount for the car that fits the Esteem with a bigger battery?
I looked at the go2outlets and did not see anything for LG phones?

As far s cases go, I haven't found any. As for car mounts/cradles, I've heard the official Revo/Esteem car mount works perfectly with the extended battery though I haven't tried it myself.

I got to go2outlets through Google shopping. Try that and so far I'm not impressed. I've lost 85% in 8 hrs. Seems like it should be better than that. And I've been at work so I haven't been using it like that

Not bad though(8hrs w 15% left) . I used my phone at work to stream tunein or Pandora and I am lucky to get 5 hrs from 100% to dead. I was going to research the extended battery packs(external battery) . If I can get any battery to last 7 hrs min while constantly streaming(using data) I am golden!

uhm. i forgot where i found it, but i saw and NOTICED that after few charging cycles, my battery started to build up and last longer. ohhh, and recalibrate the battery!!..

yeah im gonna calibrate it right because im getting an inaccurate reading. I know this because Ive been on 1% for 20 minutes

What I notice is its great in standby. Only 2% in 2 hours but bout the same drain when using 4G as the stock battery

well, id say its double. as you know it really depends on your usage.
the first day i got it, i unplugged it at 4am and left it on my nightstand until 10am and played with it the entire day, and got 18 hrs out of the battery.
looks like i might get about 10 hours maybe 12 on a weekday,longer if i start being careful near the end of the day. so far today i have been listening to slacker, streamed over 4g, for about four and a half hours, and screen off most of the time, and i am at 63% right now, with right under 5 hours on the battery.
i really need to play with it more, and see what my average life is. yesterday it lasted from 6am to 10pm, using gps, web, streaming music, and other various things.
