I'm looking into purchasing one of the cheap ebay chargers with 2 1500 batteries. Does the external charger take care of the need to bump charge? My theory was that if the battery issue that necessitates bump charging is a software issue, wouldn't charging it externally bypass that?

The batteries will charge fine outside the phone.
Well then that is certainly a cheap solution to being able to have 2 batteries at all times(I have the 1500 TP2 already) AND not having to bump charge.
