External Camera for Android

Dear Forum Readers,

I have a specific need for an external camera for Android device. I often need to back up my car to my trailer and I need to catch with the trailer bar the trailer. This is very difficult without somebody showing directions and even if somebody is showing the directions often are not good.

So, the camera would be temporarily mounted to the back of the car using velcro or magnets. Communication from the external camera to Android device would be Wifi or if really not available, then bluetooth. External camera should be battery powered, or if not available, then battery powered.

I could not easily find such a device, or perhaps I am searching in a wrong way.

If you can point me out such external camera for Android I would appreciate that a lot. Especially it would be great if you can share your comments to my email at jukka.juslin (at) haaga-helia.fi, so I would notice them better.

I think this would be quite handy practical solution.

Hi,

I forgot to mention that I do know that technologically this is possible from my experience with DJI Phantom Vision 2 quadcopter. There the camera works just like that.

It just a bit expensive for like 500 USD to have quadcopter only to do that...
And charging of the quad battery is quite an ordeal.

Now I think of it, there must be cameras with say Bluetooth streaming functionality so maybe search for something like that then try and find an app to run it with, approach it that way?

I searched with bluetooth camera, found none matching my specs. Probably I am bad in searching.

Would be nice to get my mobile home attached to the car.........

You might look at doing this with an internet camera. The camera connects to a web page which you can log onto with your smart phone.
