You can try a Bluetooth receiver and pair the phone with that. You also need apps that support Bluetooth GPS. I believe battery life MAY be a little better this way, but you will have to get a receiver that powers from batteries if you are going walking/jogging/cycling etc, rather than one that powers up from a car cigarette lighter socket. Sorry, can't recommend any models as I have never tried this, try google and see what it throws up..
My wife is out at the moment with my old HTC Desire, but from memory it doesn't have an input specifically for a GPS receiver/antenna.
Unrevoked and the google fix is a lot cheaper (free)
