Help External SD Issues

Hey all,

I got a Kingston 32gb micro sd for my SGS2. I was hoping that I could just chuck it in and it would play music and videos like the internal sd card does...nope.

What happens is one of the following:

1. I copy files over from my computer or from the internal sd to the external sd and upon disconnecting the usb (properly of course), the files are immediately placed in the LOST.dir folder; or

2. I copy them and they aren't deleted, but are corrupted, and the music/video player doesn't recognise the files.

So I'm wondering what I need to do to get this working properly. I formatted the card using the SGS2 so it's FAT32, which should work, but nothing's working =/

Thanks,
Kie

Its your SD card problem. Get it replace if you can. It might be a knock off and if you try to transfer using the PC you still can but you can see that the speed is extremely slow. It might be class 2 and too slow such that the phone is faster than its read speed. Besides the fact out might be corrupted.

Worst case get a new micro SD card. Use SanDisk and get
It from proper store with refundable policy.

And here I thought Kingston were good...

I have another sd card, which I'll try tonight. Didn't think it could be the card since it's worked before, but you never know.

The other thing: the LOST.DIR folder is where files go when you unplug the USB cord without first unmounting the phone from the computer using "Turn off USB storage."

Yeah I always disconnect properly. Kind of pedantic like that. They still randomly end up in lost, usually after I plug it in again or after I try to play them.

Actually I had the same problem. Where did you get your Kingston? Of internet? Did that and the problem with that is that its a lot more difficult to get replacement with problem cards. After that I got a SanDisk from a proper shop. No more problem.
