kelrick

Newbie
straight to the point

I have a HTC Desire
I have ROOTED and S-OFF (alpharev - cd)
I have MildWild CM-8.0 JG Stable (ROM)
I installed 4EXTRecoveryUpdater.apk
I followed all the instructions, tools, sd partion, bla bl bla
and am still only getting internal storage and no external storage!!!!

any help would be great

What do you mean "only internal storage"? What the a2sd script does is move apps/dalvik to the partition and put links from the internal storage to the location on the partition. The android OS doesn't know about the sd partition, so you can't tell from the phone menu whether it is working or not (except that you use less space than you'd otherwise expect).

To check, start up Titanium Backup & look on its front page, down the bottom where it tells you about storage use. Does it have a section for" a2sd" storage, and if so is it being used? If it is, then it's working.

when i go onto settings / storage - sd card 13gb and internal 148kb!
but when i open system info app it has - a2sd 1.49gb!

and after i install a couple of apps i get "no space left"

So the partition is there - the system info app can see it. The storage settings won't.

Is anything on the partition? Titanium or Quick System Info can tell you how much is used/free.

148kB used is crazy! That sounds like something has tried to fill your internal storage and just run out of space. If you have everything important backed up I'd suggest a factory reset from recovery, reboot, see what the state is then. Check whether partition being used and restore/install just a few things, see how it goes. Try restoring the rest if it seems to be working.

If the partition is not working, describe exactly what you did to partition it.

held volume down and pressed power, 4ext recovery loded
1 - selected wipe/format
wipe cache + dalvik
2 - selected install from sdcard - choose zip from sdcard - selected (CM10_VJ_4.1.2_V3.1)
3 - tools - partition sdcard - remove all and start from scratch
sd-ext (selected 1536) skip - skip
4 - reboot
5 - menu / terminal Emulator - au/a2sd install / y/n/y reboot
internal storage - 136mb available

loaded titanium - system ROM - 262
Internal - 154mb
SD card - 13.8gb
SD card (a2sd) - 1.58gb

verdict - still get no storage after 5 apps installed!!!!

Those are the totals, but how much is free (or used) in each? Titanium will tell you that too, and its that which will tell us whether it's working or not.

BTW you could gain a lot of space with a custom hboot. Read the root memory faq (linked from the All Things Root Guide sticky post) for more info. But let's sort this out first.
