external wifi antenna

I am looking for an external antenna I can connect to a nexus 7 to increase reception of a public network. I am just on the outside range of the network so it cuts in and out. About every five minutes Netflix will buffer when connected to the network. Anyone know of an external antenna that is compatible and will do what I want? Would any USB antenna work and then I would just need a micro to full size USB converter? Thanks

USB is baseband, there's no "antenna", just wire.

I've never seen a phone with a wifi antenna jack. Maybe you could put a router where it got good signal from the public spot and use it as a repeater. (DD-Wrt would allow that.)

I thought about buying a router to act as an extender but I do not have access to the original router. Using a router as an extender/repeater would I have to log into the original router for it to work or would the extender repeat all of the signals it receives without having to set up the network? As you can probably tell I have no idea what I am talking about when it comes to this stuff.

What I would like is something like the link below but how do I get it to connect to the router if I don't have access to it?

Amazon.com: D-Link Systems, Inc. Wireless Range Extender (DAP-1320): Computers & Accessories

If you know of something that will do what I am asking can you explain and give links to products. Thanks in advance.
