Extremely happy with this tab

Just thought id say how impressed I am with this tab. I have been a samsung phone user for the last few years, s2 previously and currently s4. I have loved both phones immensely, good user interface and good support on the most part. And by far beat other android devices I have had, motorola atrix I had before s2 was simply shocking.

So when deciding to purchase a tab, I did my research, for a while I was tempted by the nexus 7 (superior spec etc), as I quite fancied a more vanilla android experience. But after playing with my fathers note 8.0, then comparing both the tab 3 8.0 and n7 side by side, decided to stick with what I know and stay with sammy.

I do not regret this decision, and for a relatively budget tablet the functionality and spec are simply amazing. Only had it just over 24hrs so far but it continued to amaze me..

I feel the same way. I just like the samsungs. The n7 isnt all they say it is in real world use. I actually think the tab 3 is a better tablet. I had a moto atrix also and I hated the blur interface, just could not get used to it. For me its all samsung.

Yea, I had 4 different atrix handsets before my carrier agreed to swap me to the s2. That was a big change in my android experience, haven't looked back since. The atrix's I had through my carrier were to me unusable and not worth what I was paying for.

I was dead set on the n7, until I used both side by side and the galaxy tab just seemed to fit so much better for me. Simply wonderful device at a reasonable price too. Could have gone either way when I went into buy one, but I am glad I walked out with the sammy tab.

I love this tablet and so does my son. I'm looking for cases for it. Any ideas of what is a good case for this?

I like very thin case protection. Actually, it's mainly to provide a better grip on the device. I'm extremely careful with my devices, so, for me, I don't like, or need, the bulk of a "case". This one, for the 8 inch, (I bought one for my 7 inch) covers the front, back and side with a strong thin film. I bought this one off Ebay.....

Easy to install, prevents scratches, and makes the Tab 3 not so slippery. BUT it doesn't give any drop protection at all. For that, you'll need one of those larger, wraparound cases.

Hope you find what you need.

I normally get my cases off of amazon for all my cells but this is my first tablet and wasn't for sure on what was the best case. Thanks I will definitely check both of those out!

I just ordered the Tab 3 8.0 the other day and am waiting on it to be delivered. Here are a few cases I found while looking for one...

1
PU Leather Tri Fold Stand Smart Cover for Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8 0 8" T3110 SH K | eBay

Moko Smart Shell Case for Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8 0 inch Android Tablet | eBay

I'm looking forward to getting this new tablet! Partly because it's going to replace my POS ASUS TF101, and partly because I've heard so many people say good things about the Galaxy Tabs.

you should love it. I have the gt 3 8.0 and have had no problems with it and have had it since its release.

Still loving the tab. Nearly a week of ownership and no problems whatsoever. Constantly watching netflix and viewing web etc.. love it!!

Well, after a little over a week with this new tablet....I love it! This thing is great! Beats the crap out of my ASUS POS I had before. It's the perfect size for me, light-weight and does everything I need.

Oh, and the MoKo case I bought fits great. Has a good feel and protects all four corners of the tablet very well. The magnets keep the case closed very nicely (smart cover too). Definitely worth the $14.

I'm very glad I bit the bullet and got the tab3 8.0. If anyone has any tweaks or suggested apps, please pass them my way...

Without a doubt Samsung makes a better quality tablet (build wise) than asus. have you had any experience with the nexus 7? I have had my sgt 3 8.0 for 4 months now and love it. I just recently purchased the nexus 7 2013 and very quickly noticed how I was taking for granted the Samsung build quality. the nexus is basically garbage build wise (I have been through several due to defective units and exchanges) compared to the samsungs. horrible light bleed issues and speaker problems. samsungs have almost no light bleed (I have 6 of their devices, non amoled) every single nexus 7 that I have seen maybe 8-10 have at least moderate light bleed. its pretty sad to see that the qc issues detract from an otherwise superb device.

The only experience I've had with the Nexus 7 is trying them out in several stores. On paper the Nexus 7 sounds like a great device, but I didn't get that feeling while playing around with it in the stores. Granted, they've been handled by hundreds of people, but every one acted the same...hang-ups on apps, slow screen changes when swiping, slow reboot times. When playing around with the Galaxy tabs, they didn't have that feel. Plus, almost every store that carried both, they were almost always out of the Galaxy tab and had loads of the Nexus 7 tablets.

Samsung has a more polished feel to the whole user experience. I think that is the best way to describe it. I also have the nexus 7 2013. It is fast and all but honestly I think it lacks real world features that the sammy does not. I like touchwiz alot amd did not realize how simple stock android is until I used my nexus. The nexus has its pluses, but the samsung is the better all around general everyday use tablet imo.

yeah i tried the n7 a few times, but just prefer the look and feel of the sammy tab - think it is the nice screens in particular :)

I bought the Tab 3 8.0 because of the fabulous screen and because I like Samsung Touch Wiz and the improved, additional Apps they add to their tablets. Compare the Samsung versions of Calculator, SPlanner (Calendar), Contacts etc to the versions that come with standard Android OS and you will know what I mean. Yes, you can add replacement Apps for many of the boring standard Apps that come with Nexus 7s generic Android, but why bother. :-)

I feel exactly the same way.

I also spent a lot of time handling both tablets in stores. My criteria was more about accessibility. At 63 my eyes need bigger fonts. The fine granularity of the Nexus 7 was causing me eye strain, as I tried to focus on tiny details.

The muscles in my eyes had to work harder as my gaze moved from the white screen to the black frame of Nexus 7. No such problem with the Samsung Tab 3 8" where the near-white frame is a close match to the background of most apps and web pages.

On the downside, holding the 8" in one hand gives me a bit of strain in my articulations. But my palm is in better condition than my eyes. Besides, the 7" is not much easier to hold, because the wider bezel.

So I decided for the Tab 3 8". Since last November I'm using it many hours a day and never get tired. I hardly switch on my laptop any more. Ironically, we got later the Nexus 7 as a gift, but it's seldom being used.
