Help Extremely jittery touchscreen

primetech

When I pull down the notification bar, try to draw with Sketchbook, or even use Swype, things start shaking, badly. It's messed up my Swype predictions often and it's just extremely annoying too.

This is the first phone I've ever seen such problems with. And I've had other phones with the same resolution and nearly identical size before. Is this normal?

Also, the device has rebooted on me three times but that's discussed elsewhere.

Are you running the latest firmware, B08c? It seems to solve a lot of problems.

You also might try using Titanium Backup to freeze the apps you've added to determine if any of them are causing problems.

Updating the firmware was one of the first things I did, actually... And just recently I've rooted as well. Strangely, the problem has gone away, although it wasn't a simple restart that made it disappear. It took several, if that's what helped.

(Although I could only install the firmware from their website, seeing as the multiupload site has been taken down.)

Edit: it's back.

This can be caused by a few things, I have had it happen a few times myself..

#1 Is the phone charging when this happened? I have had it charging on a wireless usb hub and it goes nuts exactly as you described - I unplug the cable or the power to the hub switch and it fixes itself.

#2 what screen protector are you using? I have a ezguard on mine with a generic rubber skin, it gets moist or staticy and I have the above happen also (wipe the screen down, wash the skin and im good for a few weeks)

Hope this helps!! :D

I actually thought of those, because the problems you describe I've witnessed on/off on other phones.

  1. The problem seems to occur independently of whether I am charging my phone or not. It's occurring more sporadically now, but a couple days ago I conjectured charging my phone made it stop jittering. Right now, I don't think it's a factor.
  2. I'm using no screen protector, unless there was one hidden under the stock one.... Nope, no screen protector.

I experience the same problem. It is extremely noticeable whenever I drag a homescreen icon to the trash and hold it there for a moment, the icon bounces around.

It also happens often while browsing the net. As I scroll around the web page if I hold my finger for a second while scrolling it will bounce around.

No screen protector, and not charging. I have the bo8c firmware as well.

Likewise. Users will be happy to know a replacement (straight from Radioshack) seemed to cease the problem... Mostly. Occasionally the phone will act like that all over again, but the cases of this are much less pronounced, and much shorter, than they were with the other phone.
