F3 in Europe (Germany) - 2G/3G/LTE?

Does anyone know whether this phone will work in Europe (specifically, Germany), with a local SIM card? I'm primarily interested in data, including tethering. I'm assuming 2G works, as the following page indicates that GSM bands are the same as in the U.S.

However, if I'm only going to get 2G speeds, I'd rather rent or buy a phone that will do a better job. LTE seems to be out, unless I'm mistaken. 3G seems like a maybe... the LG product page lists UTMS bands I, II, IV, and V. I think band I is the 2100Mhz band used in Europe?

I could only find one post on the topic - this guy claims that the F3 worked throughout Europe, but doesn't specify data / tethering speeds:

While we're on the subject, can anyone recommend a cheap SIM or phone+SIM plan that I can buy for a month while I'm in Berlin?

Maybe I should have specified that my phone is the exact model linked to above. It's the MetroPlus (T-Mobile) version, which is GSM.

If you haven't yet gotten an answer to this, yes your phone will work in Europe, both on 2G and 3G. No LTE, but you'll only get 3G on most prepaid plans anyway. I used a T-Mobile Optimus F3 in Germany myself. Of course you'll have to have gotten it unlocked.
