Help Facebook account setup problem

Just got my son a Desire C, and when I try to set up the Facebook account for syncing, it just sits on the blue Facebook screen.

It will log in to Facebook through the app, but I've tried rebooting, stopping all the FB apps, but I always get the same result.

Any clues?

The HTC Facebook application no longer works. The newest Facebook app from the app store works for Facebook use. But the other Facebook for HTC app has problems syncing.
