Facebook app and gps tracking

Everytime I enter the facebook app, I get the gps signal in the top bar notification area.

I get the same thing. I wonder if maybe I allowed a facebook app or something to use location tracking at some point.

Facebook has the ability to tell your friends where you are posting from(city), and it obtains your location so you can "check in".

If you have your GPS turned on, any app that uses your location will use it. FB needs to know where you are in case you use the "check in" feature or add your location to your posts.

I leave my GPS off unless I need it to save battery.

I use LBE privacy guard to block it since I don't do the "check in" stuff

Use friendcaster instead of fb. That's all I ever use and I've never had that problem.
