Help FaceBook App doesn't open when I get a new message

So I have a problem with my Facebook App. Everytime I get a message on FaceBook I get a little FB Icon showing up in my status-bar, when I slide it down and touch the Icon my FaceBook-App should open and show me the message, but instead of that it just doesn't happen anything at all, the notification just disapears once I pressed it. At the moment I'm on the newest FaceBook Version which just came out yesterday and Android 2.3.5. Any help would be awesome.

#Edit: My FaceBook-App works fine with any other notification I get (it opens as soon as I press the notification) , just messages are the problem

There are 2 versions of Facebook on the handset, Facebook and Facebook for HTC Sense. It could be that facebook for HTC Sense is selected as the default for Facebook based stuff and it doesn't like the notification for some reason. Head to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All -> Facebook for HTC Sense -> Clear Defaults and see if that sorts.

It might not, but post and we'll see what else we can come up with if it doesn't work.
 
I know there is a specific app just for FB messenger, you could try that out if this is still troubling you. It won't exactly fix your problem, but it might provide an alternative.
On a side note, my FB app apparently decided to stop notifying my of anything, ugh. :confused:
I don't use a HTC phone, but I meant the generic FB for Android app, and the messenger app by them as well.
 
that problem just seems to appear on the wildfire S, I tried it on my mothers Desire HD and she doesn't have any trouble with it (She doesn't have the messenger app installed). I will try if the messanger app fixes my problem.
