Hi, I believe this topic has been posted elsewhere, but I did not find the answer I was looking for so I apologize ahead of time. My question is when I have my contacts in my phone, I want them to sync with facebook so I get the thumbnail image for my contacts list, link to their fb page, etc. And this feature is supposed to be natively supported on the phone, or so I thought. I have my fb account on my phone, with both boxes checked to allow background and automatic syncing but nothing happens. Anyone know how to solve this? ( I also tried the third party app FriendSync, or something with a similar name, and it doubled all my contacts instead of inputing new information so I'm not going to use that)

Make sure you have downloaded the most recent facebook app. Then go to Settings, Accounts & Sync Settings, and make sure your Facebook app is listed under "Manage Accounts" and Sync is ON. You can force the Sync by clicking the refresh icon to the right of the Facebook account.
And I think you need to restart the phone to get the pictures to stick... I noticed a little bit of a delay till I actually started seeing faces pop up. Either that or you need to have them downloaded into the cache... not exactly sure.
Hopefully that helps although I am running issacj87's MIUI rom.

Thanks for responding. Unfortunately, I did have the latest version of facebook, and my sync turned on. One other thing that might help diagnose the problem is, I've noticed in the past if someone calls me from my contacts list, their picture will show up from their fb profile for the incoming call, despite it not showing on my actual contacts list. Anything else I can do, I would really like this to work.

Mine does the same. Most of my contacts, despite being Facebook friends and linked in their contact, do not show their Facebook photo for the contact, just the grey little Android.

Happened with the new update to me too. I went and downloaded the old version and they all synced over.Mine does the same. Most of my contacts, despite being Facebook friends and linked in their contact, do not show their Facebook photo for the contact, just the grey little Android.
And how would one go about doing this?

Now as this is a free app, I don't feel as I am violating any forum rules giving this out (correct me if I am wrong) Facebook 1.7.2. If a mod has a problem with this feel free to delete it as I am not trying to break any of the rules.
Just install it (it will ask you to replace hit yes) after installing the pics will sync over after our next sync. If not manually sync it in settings or open the app hit menu click settings scroll to bottom select sync contacts click remove Facebook data. Click ok then click sync contacts then sync all or sync with existing whichever you had before.

This did help, thank you. For some reason, it does not sync all my contact's pictures, even those with that have in the contact details the facebook link to their profile! But this is much better than none at all.

Try entering the email address linked to their FB account into the email box for contracts that don't sync automatically.
Thought I would chime in on this thread (a month after it was active) just to post the solution that worked for me. I had to reset my Galaxy S and the contacts would not associate with Facebook anymore. I checked everything, resynced, reinstalled Facebook (the app), rebooted, yada yada.
What worked was going to Settings -> Accounts and Sync -> Facebook Account and deleting it. Then I reinstalled it (for good measure I rebooted the phone between the uninstall and reinstall) and VOILA! All my facebook contacts are there. I knew it was syncing differently when I saw the white sync icon on the top bar of my Android - that wasn't appearing in all the manual syncs I did to that point.

Then I reinstalled it (for good measure I rebooted the phone between the uninstall and reinstall) and VOILA! All my facebook contacts are there. Uninstall your facebook app and then reinstall it once your contacts are updated. I was looking for a solution to the same problem and found your post. As I was reading the responses to your post, I was fiddling around with my phone and decided to uninstall the facebook app in "market" or now "Google Play". Immediately, the photos in my contacts were updated. Then I reinstalled the facebook app and all is well. I guess, we just have to uninstall and reinstall every now and then when we get new contacts until they fix the bug. I noticed it a week ago when I added a new friend to both facebook and my google cell phone contacts but her facebook account was never synced up. Turns out, it was synced up, the photo just wasn't loading. I found that out, after I removed my facebook account from "My Accounts" not the market, and then added it again. Of course, then all of my contacts photos were gone. And if I hadn't seen this post, I might not have been able to fix it.

anyone know how to get RID of facebook contacts?
I made the mistake of syncing once. It added 300 people that I don't want in my contacts list when I export a .vcf file to back them up.
They don't show up on my phone contacts unless sync is on.
but when I backup contacts they are all there.

syncmypix is a great apps, works like a charm!
@borjis you can go into contacts> display options
there you can select only contacts with phones, or you can disable facebook contacts altogether.
