Facebook for Android 1.5

I turned notifications off because they aren't that important to me. I do have an issue where when I open chat I see the old Active Conversations. They are only the ones that I've done on the phone, not the ones from the computer. I have opened them up and hit Close Conversation. They will close and they will stay closed for a while. When I log back into Face later on they will reappear. This has been going on for several days. Any thoughts?

Good call. I just put a check in the box to archive. It's in the Gmail settings of F+.

This app is awesome! The developer emailed me back and said the live feed is "coming soon". I won't need the official app at all much longer.
 
The Official app for Android will randomly push notifications to my phone even though I have the setting listed as "inactive". I would gladly use the notifications if they were reliable, but since they aren't, I'd rather use another app (like F+).

Because the Official app is so screwed up, I'll randomly get two notifications. Frustrating.

Can you verify if the archived email notification is still in your inbox?

And I never heard back from the f+ developer. :(

If you have a filter set up in your Gmail account for Facebook emails, and you have the "archive" button checked, it will go to that folder and not be stuck in the inbox. I can confirm this.

Now the problem is that the official app has begun to work randomly. Sometimes I get two notifications - one from F+ and one from the FB app. I wish they would get it together.
 
The notifications I get do not appear to be push notifications. They seem to be polled by the FB app. When I get a FB message, I immediately get an email, but it takes some time before FB notifies me of this message. Is this push notification really push? It seems like the FB app is just polling every so often to me.
 
I just started getting push notifications again. It comes and it goes.. the app is not really good right now, needs more testing, I sometimes think that apple gets it right when they need to test apps before they are put on the market, tho you would think that Facebook would test a little better since they are as big as they are!
 
I downloaded it to my Incredible..and now I get both EMAIL notifications AND push notifications via the facebook app..when i have the refresh interval set to NEVER and the notifications inside the app OFF!

How to turn OFF the Facebook app notifications so that I strictly see EMAIL notifications only?

Please advise.

I HATE this update! It automatically logs in me into chat on my phone. Even if I select "go offline" as soon as I log into FB on my PC it shows me online. Problem with that is FB chat is not allowed at work but I can't turn it off via PC. So basically I can log into FB at work now. FB is allowed but FB chat is not. :rolleyes:

The function to "go offline" via the FB app does not work.....
 
I haven't gotten a single push notification to work. How are people getting notifications of comments on statuses when that's not even an option in the app settings?

Okay, I'm giving f+ another shot. Got Gmail setup, and *hopefully* turned off the FB app notifications. I'll see how it goes...
 
I was using FB Chat via the web browser & flash but the chat feature in the app makes it so much easier. Works fine for me!

Of course, sometimes my email notifications come long after the event also, so I guess I should just be happy that email notifications work. *shrug*
 
I can't believe that they haven't had another update to fix the sporadic notifications. Typically, they release an update, then a day or two later, release a fix for any bugs. Then we won't hear from them for several months.

C'mon Facebook. This is terrible.
 
The notifications annoy me. I've got facebook to e-mail me, and just use k-9 to push my e-mails through.

I get two notifications for things, so I tried turning notifications off, and I still get them through randomly! Seems some people can't get them, and some people can't turn them off!
 
how do i clear "active conversations" ? if i click on the name of the person with who the chat was with, then click the menu button, and hit close conversation. it goes away, but next time i go back into facebook chat on the phone it shows up again. why cant i permanatly delete it?:confused:
 
why do i keep getting a password/user name not correct notification in my drop down menu? i am still logged in and i am able to access facebook. i just clear it and i am fine, but it keeps popping up at least once a day. what gives?:confused:

has anyone had actual working STEADY notifications?

i upgraded to 1.5 last week, and havent recieved a single notification.
 
I noticed on the tips that it suggests that I put the widget on my home screen. What's the benefit? I find the widget sucks. It doesn't even filter out updates from friends that I ignore.
