Root Facebook Home on Optimus Elite

Now that cm9 has been released, it is possible to run facebook home smoothly on this phone. This only works on cm9 right now though... so no stock rom.

All you have to do is change a couple of lines in build.prop

ro.product.model=SCH-I535
ro.product.name=d2vzw
ro.product.device=d2vzw

Then find facebook home on the market and install.

Note: Restart Phone after changing build.prop

I saw that too... but if you change the build.prop, you won't have to worry about updates and stuff. Either way works

If you install it and then run it, it will say "we are working on supporting your device soon!" Or something like that without the build.prop tweaks

I'm a little confused on your wording, but either way, the Facebook home app will show up on the play store if you are running ics or higher. It just won't work unless you change the build.prop or download the modded version on the website above

Sorry, I'm not all here today.

Early this afternoon I looked and it wasn't even showing up in the play store for me but now all of a sudden it's there. I'm just wondering why

That's alright. And I have no idea honestly... hmmm. But it's there now so that's good

All I can think is maybe when I installed it it reported to Facebook that it was installed and what the model of the phone was etc and for whatever reason unlocked it in the play store...but I have no idea

If i leave the build prop changed like this will it interfere with anything else that I try to do???

There is a simpler method available on xda developers that doesn't require any build.prop mods... However if you want to receive app updates you'll probably wanna go with the build.prop method

More apps will be available at the play store I think. That's about it. If nfc gets working on cm9, then it will interfere with google wallet.
