facebook home

I think its being released today, but only for certain phones. I can't remember which ones but you could look it up.

I have a note 2. According to Facebook home web site it should be available on play store on the 12th. But nothing there yet. Just wondering if the date is a US release date or UK

Yeah I read it's supposed to launch today. I'm sure all of the Android fan sites will post when it's available in the Play Store.

Downloaded Facebook home, and I'm not liking it very much. Takes over your whole UI and removes all of the widgets. Also makes the pictures people post/like huge and stream across the screen. Maybe in a couple of updates it will be worth it.

Didn't like the stream on fb home, how do they choose what shows? I want my fb timeline not what you randomly pick to show. Tried refresh and it starts showing me Tuesdays timeline. I want current and recent activity.

Still not available in UK.

The FB app is updated in UK now, but when you select FB HOME in the settings, it takes u to play store to download FB HOME, but play store shows as not available in your country...

Guess we'll have to wait a bit longer

Hate it...the tl on my screen is terrible. ..now the new messaging is awesome. ..glad I can use it as main text app

got it yesterday on my google play store here in FLorida, but after 10 minutes i had to un installed it...terrible gave me a headache, GN2 here and the pics are just too damn big across the phone screen....I was like "do i really need to see every post or pics my friends post?" NO WAY.....epic fail i would have worked better as a widget not as a home launcher shi*.... I gave it 1 star on the google store...

this is what i woke up this morning!!!!! Good God I don't need to know full page what my buddies are doing!!!!!!!

To be honest I do not see the need for FB Home. To me it is just a move by FB to take over your phone and life. I have FB but do not need it 24 / 7 as I have a life.
This is just a gimic by FB to try and stay off competition.
The app takes control of your phone and is not worth it. Do not fall victim to the hype of FB as it is so over rated.

Tried it and all I can say is that it seems to remove everything I like about android from my phone and left behind a difficult to use for anything but facebook POS phone in its wake.

Needless to say I removed it.:s:

If I update my Facebook app to the latest version will it automatically include FB Home, like how they automatically included the Messenger and Camera a while back?

I have no interest in using Home so would rather not update if that's the case, as some of those new permissions look a bit sketchy.

Well although it's not officially available in the UK, a quick Google search lead me to finding the APK file required to make it work.

Now having tried it out,
Well I can say that I don't like the fact that it's basically a 'launcher' program, so I loose my favourite NOVA launcher completely if I choose to use FB home.

Not cool, so it's not for me.

I can see how it would appeal to certain types of people, and infact if I never used NOVA launcher, I might even like using FB HOME... I could see it taking off big time on the Iphone, because on an Iphone something like this would be revolutionary!!

But as it is, andriod OS is miles ahead of FB home

It takes over your phone. Think of it as being a launcher that you can not change the settings. It's not user friendly or intuitive. I made the mistake of installing it then running errands. I literally could not figure out how to make a phone call. I switched back to Touch Wiz and used FB Home as a lock screen. I find it more tolerable like this. But I will probably uninstall the whole thing.

My $.02

Just installed this, then uninstalled it not more than 5 minutes. What an absolute bag of cack. I literally see no point in it whatsoever, and cannot believe that a group of people have spent time and effort only to come up with that.

(IMO) Mark should've put those dollars and resources into the actually FB app.
Also the last thing I want on my phone is your same blurry pics you're already posting on FB. If they look bad there the chance of them improving on my phone is rather slim.

I don't live in FB so there is no way I would enjoy it taking over my phone that way. With that said, I've read the Chat Heads works really well and also works with your regular SMS/Text. I'm tempted to just try that, but I need to know if I can use it just for my regular SMS/Text messaging and exclude FB Messenger because I don't chat with my FB peeps (that's what unlimited SMS's for, haha).

Anyone know about Chat Heads?

Yeah. FB home is for people who think that computers are just for facebook and it rules their lives (a bit harsh maybe but..). The rest of us just use FB when we want to and plug it in in greater or lesser agree to what we use.

I actually use Flipboard to look at FB on my phone. It's awesome. I can aggregate FB with whatever other feeds I want in one place.
