Help Facebook Notifacations.

I hace Desire HD and I have downloaded the latest facebook app from the market. I Can't seem to get notifacations when someone comments on a status etc. My wee sister has the Desire and when someone comments or does anything she hets a notifacation at the top of the home screen and a sound. Why does this not happen for me??
 
I am using a Desire and I get a notification when someone has sent a chat message but no sound. Would appreciate an answer here too.
