Facebook Notifications keep resetting

First of all, I am a new user here so please forgive me if I am not posting this correctly.

For some reason the Facebook app installed on my phone routinely resets itself every few days turning on all the default settings. I do not want to get notifications for anything other than messages, yet every few days I start getting notifications for everything.

I am running Version 2.3 on a Samsung Galaxy S3 with Android version 4.1.2 installed.

If you search through you will see I have complained about this before in this forum. (Not a shot at you.) And no one seems to have an answer for it.

It is why I use the mobile browser facebook and not the app. (I have the app installed but notifications turned off at the Settings > Apps level because I know each new version will just get more intrusive.)

facebook is evil. This is a proof point.
 
This is a workaround, but what I do is have Facebook (the desktop app) send me an email when I get a message. I have all the FB notifications turned off on the mobile app.

That didn't work for me. Just a week or two ago I checked my facebook app out of curiosity. I had turned off notifications completely (the master check that gets rid of all the boxes below it). I had not launched the app in about a month. Lo and behold! Zuck turned every freakin' notification on for me!

Only way to eliminate facebook notifications completely is at the Android app settings level if you ask me.

v2.3 installed and not used.

The sad thing is, if they only didn't turn on vibrate behind my back - I would never know what they are doing. As I would have no reason to check what is happening to my facebook settings.
