Facebook - Update

I have the HTC Incredible, and ALLLLLLL of my friends are pretty much synced into the People function of the phone. Any way I can undo this? I have un-checked 'Sync Contacts' from the Accounts and Sync option of the Settings menu. I really dont need 700 peoples numbers in my phone.

EDIT: I've unchecked Facebook from my View in the People App, but when I hit Phone, where it automatically shows the dialer, there's a bunch of my Facebook friends listed. Anyway to remove this? Is it possible to just completely remove any part of Facebook from my People or Phone app? It's kinda annoying...and just a tad bit on the creepy side.

I wish someone could answer this, it is really creppy and annoying..

Try deleting the facebook account from the accounts & sync settings altogether, not just unchecking it. Did you also try resynching your contacts through Google or Verizon's backup assistant (making sure the Facebook contacts arent there either)? Even if you never had a backup from another phone, I'm sure it's still a lot easier to mess with things on a computer. Worked for me.

First off I appoligize if this issue has already been brought up, in fact, I'm sure it has been. But could someone shed some light on why Facebook can't push notifications similar to the BlackBerry app? Why is it able to tell me when I have facebook messages and friend requests but not when someone writes on my wall or comments on a status update?

My final pet peeve is not being able to go directly from my "Notifications" to the actually place of interest. For example: "Tony comments on your status" but if I click that notification I go to the mobile site. WTF?! If I wanted to visit the mobile site I wouldn't have gone to the application....

Thank you so much! That worked! For anyone else wondering how to remove all of facebook's phone numbers when you click 'Phone' and start dialing, go to Menu, Settings, Accounts & Sync, I deleted 'Facebook' the one with my email under it (not Facebook for HTC sense), I re-logged in and selected 'Don't sync contacts, leave facebook only to facebook) and I only have the option to choose from my contacts now! Thanks again!

I just wish, like many others, that they would make their app more like the I Phone app. The Android one is severely less polished and is lacking the push notifications for FB that the I Phone one does so wonderfully (No I'm not an I Phone user, I just love their FB app).

This seems to be everyones thoughts, I guess it can only get better from here. I have facebook email me with any notifications, and since gmail is pushed, I can literally hear my email ringtone as the red 1 appears on my computer..

Found what could be another bug and the reason why people are still having sleep/battery drain issues on 1.3.1. I opened a photo and tried to add a comment. Appears that when you try to view/add comments to photos with many comments already, the app hangs. After it hangs, the app no longer properly sleeps and drains battery. I had 5 minutes of awake time before this happened and now I have over 3 hours of awake time....but used my phone less than 2 minutes during the past 3 hours. SystemPanel confirmed that FB wasn't sleeping. Only way to end it was use SystemPanel or an app killer. Anyone else see this?

I can't read through this entire thread, but I've fixed this issue on a few of my friends' phones.

If you are syncing FB with Sense, DO NOT use the Facebook App sync. Next, if you are having force close or not-sleeping issues, go into applications, Facebook, and clear data. Then restart the Facebook app, and it should work fine. This fix worked on 3 of my friends' Inc's

I've been having this same problem, and I'm shocked that nobody else has brought that issue up in this thread. I was getting frustrated with that (because I couldn't get back to my updates page without backing out of the browser then tapping on the FB icon again to bring up the news feed) so I deleted the FB update and went with the old app. Guess I saved myself some battery drain by doing that. But now the old version is also going to the browser for any kind of click... status update, comment, picture, etc.

Annoying. Anyone else having this problem?

Thank you! About time somebody else realizes how incredibly obnoxious this is. Can we please see a decent update fort this app?

This is the number one reason the Android version is behind the iPhone version.

Can we send an email to the developer and get his/her/their input on an ETA, or if the "issue" is even being considered?

Yes, you can use the "Facebook For Android" FB page and click on 'Contact Developer'. The only way we are going to get these things fixed is if enough people report it to the Developer, so the more that do it the quicker it will get resolved (just like the battery drain issue).

'Tis true. Facebook on my BB's were never as much of a total PITA. :D Just last night I had to jump through hoops to get rid of the 2,257 extra links the Facebook for Android App brought on. And I loved how when I went to uninstall it, it's not an option -- only to uninstall the update.

But all is right in the world now, and Facebook is living happily on my phone, yet again -- with pictures!

So I just got my Dinc today :D
I have yet to set up a facebook app (HTC or android) because I heard that both have issues with battery. Do you think I should set it up, and if I do, can I make it only sync manually to save battery?

This is what I do as well. Unfortunately, because the link in the email also takes you to the mobile site, you still need to go into the FB app and get your notifications...and then if you want to comment back, you're gonna end up at the mobile site anyway. Very disjointed process, but I guess it's better than the alternative. This latest update is better than what they've had before...I actually use the app now. I used to just go to the mobile site and bypass the app altogether.

I was coming here to post this exact issue. MASSIVE FAIL in my opinion. I've used the mobile site for years on my storm and also use it on my dinc because the FB app just sucks.

Is there a reason everybody uses the mobile site? I use the full website on the browser and its almost as fast as the mobile site. plus the mobile site doesn't display everything in the news feed.

The new update fixed the "friends" issue. There is no longer an error when you click on friends. Instead, you actually see the list! By George, it does what it's supposed to!

I was lucky enough to never have the sleeping issue with my phone or the battery drain. **KNOCK ON WOOD*

I just noticed there isn't a 'sync contacts' option in the new update. I lost all of my pictures and had to use the Facebook for HTC to get them back. What the hell Facebook!
