Root Factory reset/Data wipe?

A few questions if you all dont mind?

1. What happens if I do a Factory reset after rooting (if anything at all)
2. Should I do a Factory Reset before or after:
A: SBF to Froyo
B: Root with Z4
C: Install pre-rooted GB
D: None of the above matters

Im not even gonna consider CM7 yet because its Way out of my league at this point. Thanks

You can't factory reset after rooting. You will lose root. If you SBF back to Froyo you would do a data wipe after you SBF. If you install the pre rooted GB same applies, Do a data wipe after you flash GB to prevent the dreaded bootlooping.

Factory resetting just puts your phone in the "out-of-the-box" condition it was in when you first got the phone. Factory resetting does this if you have Froyo installed. It will give you a clean Froyo. And it does this with GB installed. It will give you a clean GB install.
