I was wondering if doing a factory reset from the note 3 settings will delete all the music and photos i added directly to the device folders.

It will wipe the internal storage. I don't think it wipes the sd card but you can take that out if you have one.
If you're rooted and have a custom recovery, you can use that to wipe the data partition. It's the equivalent of a factory reset but it leaves the internal storage alone

Are you rooted if so don't do the factory reset from the settings menu . only perform from the recovery such as twrp or clockworkmod

I just did my factory reset and it didn't erase my files on the SD card and all my scrapbooks were backed up through drop box and Samsung's cloud

Thanks for all the answers.. all were useful. Now i need to find a good backup to pc program since Samsung kies dint do the work for me.
