Sorry for the late reply... I'll be spotty here today . About that rom... It's a matter of opinion you can try it 
. As far as putting the rom on the card... You can have as many as you want on the card as memory permits. When you flash a new rom it will overwrite the old one. Also be sure to back up in recovery.... Called a nandroid backup.. I'm mobile right now and stink at posting links sorry .

Make sure the rom you choose is for your make and model and carrier for your device.

Nightlies are basically small updates for roms that are put out quite often (every night, or every couple days etc) and usually have small bugs or kinks that have to be worked out.
I've never tried nightlies, but stayed with stable versions of roms (that's just me because I don't have time for bugs lol
)Anyways, you can try a nightly if you desire

Keep in mind that roms that are AOSP based will need a separate flash for Gapps (google apps). That is usually flashed in the same recovery session right after the rom flash. Post 2 in this thread can explain it also:

Just be sure the Gapps package matches the rom version...(again, that link will explain)
Not sure what is going on with that previous error you had...I surmise the rom failed due to your baseband (modem, or radio) version. I'm not sure. You may or may not have to update that.
By the way, what is your baseband version? (menu/settings/about phone)
I'm not sure what rom to recommend as I don't have your device.

What error are you getting . if the op don't want to have a rooted device with a stable rom either if its custom or regular . how about he just have a stock device . let the op just do a unbrick unless they have a stock backup . . I think the device needs to be given back to the other person to let them sort or repair the problems . if not let the op just do a unbrick unroot to the device . at the end if the op wants to root they can or just stay with a working stock device.

Well, there are 2 options for you...stay rooted as you are and flash another rom, or, unroot by flashing a firmware update with a computer program called ODIN.
There are many benefits to being rooted, but being rooted is not for everyone.
Being rooted means you have administrative access to everything on the phone. (as you have now). You can change any file you desire, (dangerous if you don't do your research first), you can backup the entire phone (nandroid backup mentioned earlier), flash roms, radios, kernels etc.
On the other hand I think most folks just like the phone the way it is when it comes out of the box, unrooted.
Ask a rooted member if you should root, and most of the time they will say yes.
Unrooting now is not a big deal, we can find the firmware and the program ODIN for you.
Flash the firmware, and your phone will be like it was out of the box.
We also can continue like we are and try to find another rom to get your phone going

You could try to redownload the rom you are on and try to flash it again...sometimes the file may be corrupt on the first download.
That is why a md5 checksum comes in handy (more on that later, I don't want to confuse you more )
