factory reset question with gold card

Just a quick question
I am upgrading to nexus and giving my desire to someone
I made a goldcard to upgrade to 2.2 and wondered if doing a factory reset will affect this
As I think it wipes the SD aswell?

Also should I just synchronize all contacts etc with Google and redownload oon to new phone
What should I be aware of when migrating so I don't loose any details

I am changing networks so I can't transfer contacts to sim

A factory reset will erase all data from your phone, including:

* Your Google account

* system and application data and settings

* downloaded applications

It will not erase:

* current system software and bundled applications

* SD card files, such as music and photos
