Root Factory Reset Question

Android Enthusiast
I justed rooted my droid x2 and am still stock with 2.3.4 and I do not have bootstrap installed yet. What happens now if I do a factory reset? Will my phone still be rooted?

Factory reset won't unroot your phone. Factory reset wipes out all user data, but doesn't remove root. In fact, if you have a custom ROM installed, it will still be there as well.

You can either use Pete's Motorola Tools to unroot it or else, you will have to SBF it to get it back to being unrooted. SBF will also put it back to stock as well.

What if I used the MotorolaOneClickRoot instead of Petes Motorola Tools. Will Pete's progam still unroot the phone?

I don't know about that. I think it would because it's probably using the exact same exploit. Pete's Motorola Root Tools looks exactly like the Motorola One Click Root application except he has buttons on the bottom that allow you to root, unroot, run temp .adb procedure, and restore your/system/app directory. But, I can't say for sure as I've only ever used Pete's tool.
