Root Factory Warranty Replacement

I'm about to send my Droid X off for replacement under factory warranty. (keys are sticking) It's currently rooted with Cyanogenmod 7. So I'm guessing an .sbf to froyo and a factory reset should be all that's necessary to avoid Motorola finding any evidence of root.

But since Cyanogenmod 7 is more of an advanced ROM in terms of features and functionality, I'm just wondering if anything else might need to be done to restore the device to factory “out of the box” condition. Some of you programming guys might be able to answer this one.

I had to do this about a month and a half ago. I SBF'd and then took the Gingerbread update and then factory reset and sent it back in and no problems. Maybe a little bit of an overkill taking the Gingerbread update but I figured there would be no questions at all with the update on the phone.

Yep, since you're sending it back, you don't need root.

That's what I did when one of my hard buttons quit working. SBF straight to Gingerbread, factory reset, and in 15 minutes it was like brand new. Minus the hard button working :D
 
Just wondering. Did they send you another DROID x or did they send another phone. They are supposed to be sending me a new one from a warranty claim. Just wondering if they still have the original x in stock.
 
I just got a warranty replacement Thursday and it was a Droid X. Had finger crossed for an X2 but nope. Didnt happen. It sure is nice having a new scratch free phone though. BTW - Never put your phone in the same pocket as a hard drive magnet. BAD thing happen.

How does that qualify as warranty?
 
Guess I missed that part. :D

Based on "Never put your phone in the same pocket as a hard drive magnet. BAD thing happen.", it sounded like the magnet damaged the phone and Verizon replaced it.
