Hello guys. Something REALLY terrible has happened and I have no idea what to do. I finally got notified that my Nexus 7 (2013) has downloaded the long-awaited 4.4 update and that I can install it. I clicked OK, and it rebooted into recovery. I have TWRP installed. I don't remember what it said, I think something about missing MD5 or something like that. Then TWRP main menu opened and nothing was happening. I used the TWRP reboot function, and when my tablet started back up, it was still on 4.3. When I check for updates it says the tablet is up to date.
It is rooted and with a custom kernel, but stock ROM and original build number.

Did I lose my update opportunity and will have to wait for the next notification? I thought it was downloaded already.
If I can get it again, what do I do to make it install correctly? I got the exact same error back when I started to install this OTA manually.

you can return your device to stock and then try updating your n7. custom recovery will not work with ota you could also go over to xda dev and download a 4.4 rom and install with twrp

You need to basically have a completely stock system when trying to accept / install an OTA.

There are checks within the OTA .zip file's updater-script that will compare the SHA1 (not MD5) checksums of the files on your device with what it expects (i.e., stock components such as a stock recovery partition and stock kernel). It doesn't check every file, but it checks hundreds of them.

You'll need to either flash a stock ROM as kevindroid indicate and a stock recovery or re-flash a factory image.

After you do that, you should be able to accept / install the 4.4 OTA.

Best of luck!
