While trying to root my buddy's Samsung Captivate, I used the file for the Fascinate by mistake. Doing the Reinstall Packages step, it comes up with an error. Now I can't get the SD card to show on my computer to replace the bad update.zip file with the correct one. How can I fix this?

It sounds like you have a bigger issue. Does the phone boot up and start normally? Have you tried a factory reset? And last, do you have adb installed on your computer?

You might have to use Odin to flash back to stock, and try to root again. Keep in mind the procedure for Odin is going to differ with the batch # of that phone.
