I'm in agreement with the weathering will blend them in, yet even Stevie Wonder could see the difference in the lines .... Looks like the shake is near the same size, the first row was starterd out of phase and the rest had to follow them. Having done remodeling for years, in a past life, I am familiar the problem ....

CSS (cedar shake shingle) roofs are outlawed here now.

Inna past life I did air conditioning and heating and have been in many many shake attics. It always amazed me to see all of the spots where sunshine showed through yet they did not really leak when it rained. The shake swells up when wet and shrinks back when dry.

Excellent kindling for a failed gas furnace that catches fire in the middle of the night, which was why they were outlawed !

Yep
All shake used in my neck 'o the woods has to be treated. Most roofs are composite, tile or vinal now.

Looks like the fad here now is the metal roll ridge roofing. West end of the island is still growing and all the new housing has it.

I did some remodling of a place in the refinery part of a town that required me to use only fire retardant lumber, you think treated is expensive ...

The trouble with rolled sheet metal is it requires too many dies make a decent variety of shapes to be Mobil.

And copper (the better looking and longest lasting) material isn't cheap.
