Farewell to Ally

Well, my touchscreen is intermittently not working, it's been dropped a few times too many, most likely. The phone is out of warranty and I was eligible for an early upgrade, which unfortunately I could only get through Verizon itself.

So after considering what they had for sale online, I ordered the Sony Xperia Play. It was actually the cheapest they had with at least a 4" screen and a 1Ghz+ processor. Hopefully can live with it without rooting, as that hasn't been figured out quite yet.

I am very thankful for the efforts of the developers here, as it is only through their hard work that my Ally was useful for the period of time that it was. Velocity rocked! Thanks all.

Catch yall on the flip side.

My apologies. I had trouble trying to read the site through all the blood pouring out of my eyes, so I didn't stick around to check out the details. But it seems like every new phone gets rooted in short order, so if you do want to go that route someday it probably won't be long until there is a way.

Yea, the people on Xda are rooting them, but it requires PM'ing one of the devs for a code. I think I'll just hold off a bit until there's something more concrete. I got tethering working via USB on the Xperia so I'm good for now, until there's a custom ROM with wireless tether.

The battery on this phone lasts way longer than the Ally!
