VZW told me today that NO OTA 2.2 is coming and the Fascinate has been discontinued. If true

while the Fascinate may be discontinued, 2.2 did get pushed OTA, goto settings, about phone, system updates, check new.

Cool, I am downloading now, always the last to know. Looking forward to all that 2.2 will do. Not worried about battery life since it already sucks if i use it as intended.

Does anyone else find it hilarious that this was told to him today since the OTA was released EARLIER THIS WEEK?
I mean I couldn't write this if I tried. Nobody would believe me.

That is a side splitter, I am not as far out of the loop as I thought though. I am amazed at the misinformation at VZW- I specifically asked about 2.2 and he was very clear that 2.2 will not be released for the SF, moreover he advised not to root. He directed me to the Samsung website to see if a 2.2 download was available there- it is not. My OTA failed so I am going to give it another whirl.

Not exactly, I joked about buying an iPhone but he did not bite other than saying you could do that if you like but really made no effort to sell me a new phone.

Saw the same one lol. They're probably trying to sell as many as they can now since Q2/Q3 phones are rolling out.

The agent said they have lots in stock and will continue to sell it until gone but the model is discontinued. He is the same cat that told me 2.2 won't be released so consider the source.
I can't get 2.2 OTA to update- has failed multiple times. It seems to download fine but the re boot process that shows the box and android greenman stops short with the yellow status bar at 40% and a quick yellow triangle flash which then restarts the phone and a screen pops up saying 2.2 failed to download. VZW says I need to bring it in to the store to upgrade. Any thoughts?

If I had to wager a guess I would say the Fascinate will EOL around June which would put most if not all the 2Q phones released. The average cycle has been about ten months on any of the android based phones.
