Root fastboot commands for flashing the fix ..

i tried to upload the file but it said a security token was missing...

Your problem is you are connect to USB so it is in fastboot mode. From there make sure bootloader is highlighted and hit the power button to switch to bootloader mode. You will see it search for the .zip after that and you should be good to go.

I can assure you the file works. I would upload a md5 but I don't have the ability to right now. I created it and myself and others have verified the flash. Are you s-on or s-off? You will need to be s-off for this to work.

it worked for u .. then maybe its just my phone then ..im S-On... well i guess that puts an end to this .... thank you guys so much for trying to help. i didn't know it needed S-Off .. i guess for me to get this fix I'll have to go back to stock everything..

Using the volume buttons highlight bootloader, press the power button, after it finds the file press power again, reboot. Reading your post it doesn't seem like you're selecting the bootloader from the menu.

I do wanna s-off but I just don't think I can do it right at this point. I was reading through the junpunutbear guide ..it says I have to be on stock rom with stock RUU.. I don't even know what a ruu is ... I just don't know enough yet..

I'm s-on.. that's why it didn't work for me
 
Yep, you need to be s-off and running the ENG hboot (1.04) in order to flash things in the bootloader. Once you flash, you can revert to another hboot version if you wish (this is all covered in the fix everything thread).

what is a ENG hboot .. mine is HBOOT 1.57.
 
Engineering bootloader leaked from HTC, a particular form of s-off bootloader (with debugging commands), you have a standard distributed bootloader, s-on.

You can be s-off with the 1.57 hboot or any other, must be s-offed to change the hboots obviously. I usually have the 1.57.57 juoponutbear hboot which also allows debugging.
 
sigh, i bite the bullet , upgraded from Optimus V to Evo V.... didnt know i signed myself up for a part time job ...

i just read the bear guide a bit more . In step 1 it says one uninstall HTC sync and other phone software. Step 2 says to install HTC drivers .. , i clicked on the link and it was HTC sync ...
and do i just flash the Odex stock rom and flash SU in recovery to gain prerequisite of stock RUU and be rooted ?
