Root Fastboot man version older Rezound! HELP!!!

My phone is I guess what you call a soft brick. I reallyyy need help and have been working for hours for a fix and can't. Ill explain everything. I got a another rezound sent in the mail yesterday because the last one had data issues. I've rooted both the incredible and thunderbolt and decided to give this a try. I unlocked it using hasoon2000 and had superuser on it and everything. I was still on S-on which confused me but I recovered into cwm touch and flashed Newts OnE XxX RLS 3.1.2. I rebooted and got stuck in the htc page so I downloaded and flashed RezROM S4 v2.4 | EQS | S-OFF/S-ON with the same problem. Then since i was still S-ON i flashed RezROM_S4_S-ON_Kernel_Installer.zip (still with cwm) and same thing happened. But when I tried to fastboot it said that my fastboot version is old with no option to update. I restarted a few times with the same results. I did research and found people with similar problems. I tried pressing volume up while restarting to force update (didn't) work. Since I still have my old rezound (for four more days) i put the sd card in there, connected to computer and changed mainver number to both 3.10.605.7 and 3.10.605.13 with no luck. Those were ics numbers someone said to try but i don't know how match it with my phone since it won't connect to my computer or do anything really. I'm really stuck guys and NEEDDDD someones help. I know its time consuming but can you please try to be really detailed steps if you know a fix. I'll even paypal someone a little bit of money if the can help me out. Thanks so much

***Since I spent so many hours on this and have zero luck ill pay to ship (there and back) to someones house and pay them to fix it (price agreed on first) if they are willing to. Extremely desperate.***

Just FYI, clockworkmod doesn't play nice with rezound, amon ra recovery is recommended.

Can you use adb/fastboot to input commands on your phone via usb? If so, check out scotty's post "help for main version problems" and look at option 2b. (about flashing the tool that sets the main version to low).

You should fastboot boot to amon ra recovery if you can. Then use the flash zip menu to flash the main version tool linked to above.

Here's a link to read about how to hard reset your rezound using hardware buttons.

when I go into fastboot it automatically sendes me to main version older page and the only thing i can do from there is to reboot phone which just locks at the htc screen. Where can I find what version I should be on?

The only way I can access my sd card is from my old rezound that I have to send back soon. How can I fix my phone with only that?...

Pull the battery, put it back in. Hold down volume down button and power button at same time until it boots to hboot screen.

If you can get to boot menu and plug in your usb cord, try commands:
fastboot devices (let me know if it returns anything)
fastboot getvar all

and you should see a list of variables, one of them is mainver.

or you can try:

1)download this file:
- main version tool

2)change main version:

-place "SetMainVersionLOW.zip" on the root of your phones SD card

-plug in your phone's usb cord into computer

-change to mini-adb directory:
cd c:\mini-adb_vigor

-check connectivity
adb devices

-boot to bootloader
adb reboot bootloader

-launch recovery
fastboot boot recovery-ra-vigor-3.14-gnm.img

-using the phones amon ra menu options, flash "SetMainVersionLOW.zip" just like you would any other rom. no need to wipe anything, just flash it.

-boot back into bootloader
adb reboot bootloader

-check main version
fastboot getvar all

if for some reason I am misunderstanding and you don't have mini-adb installed on your computer, you are going to need to study scott's rooting for newbies thread.

i believe part of the prollem is that you are confusing the hboot and fastboot screens. when you boot to the screen that wants you to update, that is hboot. at this point, you need to remove PH98IMG from your sd card(via a card reader or the other rezound) so that you can access "fastboot". once you put your phone in the fastboot mode, fastboot commands will work.

obscuro gave you good advice. flashing the main version tool will let any PH98IMG file flash.

having rooted with a tool, you dont have a real understanding of the commands were speaking of,and you dont have the files and knowledge to make things work when we instruct you to do them.

use the root guide to download mini-adb and set it up. install the drivers, open a cmd window, etc. and once the phone is recognized by fastboot devices youre good to go. we can give more specific instructions at this point,if the directions above dont quite make sense.

basically, your phone is not booting because it does not have a compatible kernel. once you have mini-adb_vigor working and seeing your phone in fastboot,it will be easy to fix. unfortunately, there is not an easy way to fix it with only the sd card. youre going to need to enter a few fastboot commands. :)

Is there anyway that you could do it for me if i pay for shipping and for your time? I simply can't figure it out. I live in America so hopefully do you do. We can agree on a price, you'd be a lifesaver

i would certainly not mind to fix your phone for you,but we can help you thru it without having to do that,so youll be without it for a lesser period of time, and not risk any damage in shipping. plus, you will have gained useful info and knowledge that will help you with your phone in the future.

download these files:
-mini-adb.zip: mini-adb.zip
-the latest amon ra recovery image: [Recovery] Amon Ra style vigor - xda-developers

first thing you need is drivers for adb to see your phone. if you have htc sync installed, you should allready have drivers. if not,you can install htc sync,or install these modified htc drivers from revolutionary (i recomand revolutionary drivers)

1)prepair ADB
-unzip your mini-adb.zip file. this is native funtionality in windows 7. you otherwise may need a utility such as "7-zip" to extract,or unzip it. place the unzipped folder onto the root of your C\ drive on your PC(sorry, you mac guys will need to develop this for yourself,i dont have a mac). root means the top level, not inside any folders. so just copy and paste,or drag and drop the folder onto C with everything else that is there. rename it to "mini-adb_vigor" since youll be putting some vigor(rezound) specific files in here. you actually can call it whatver you want, but directions from here forward will assume this folder to be named "mini-adb_vigor"
-open a command window. on windows 7,click the start bubble in the lower left and type "command" in the search box. xp i believe is similar or the same. doing this should open a small black command window.
-change to your mini-adb_vigor directory. type the following at the prompt in your cmd window:

cd c:\mini-adb_vigor

2)launch a temporary recovery:
-move the image file you downloaded above for amon RA and place it into the mini-adb_vigor folder.

-type in your cmd window,or copy/paste the commands that are in bold

-check the md5 of your recovery image:

md5sums <recoveryname>.img

i.e.,if youre using an image named recovery-ra-vigor-3.15-gnm,then your command will be:
md5sums recovery-ra-vigor-3.15-gnm.img

**make sure the resulting md5 matches the one that drellisdee lists for the image that you downloaded. **
(if you use 3.15,then the md5 should match: 9d127cde10b68de5e424aaea2d4a4357)

-boot to bootloader: pull the battery, power on into hboot via power/vol down. select fastboot from the hboot menu. plug in the phone.

-check for connectivity:

fastboot devices

-should return serial number

-enter this command to get us some info about your phone:

fastboot getvar all

tell us what the main version number is(or copy/paste all the info)

-temporarily launch your recovery to phone memory:

fastboot boot <recoveryname>.img

again,if youre using amon:
fastboot boot recovery-ra-vigor-3.15-gnm.img

-youll see a (really fast) green status bar on the top right as your PC sends the recovery to your phone. youll then see the HTC splash screen, then your recovery.

now that youre recovery is running, you have lots of options. you can mountusb storage to move things on and off the sd card without having to move it from one phone to another. you can also flash the main version tool recomended by obscuro: main version tool (wich i would strongly reccomend)

at this point,if you have a stock backup you could restore it. or you can relfash your rom. with your recovery booted in this manner,it is able to write the kernels,so a backup should restore fine, and if the rom is scriped to flash the kernel(most are, unless they are old) it will flash fine.

again,as long as recovery is launched from fastboot like above, you dont need to flash kernels seperately.

once you are sorted, and bck to a working phone,id strongly recomend to permantly install amon in place of cwm. you can do this just like above, except use this command to permantly flash amon:

fastboot flash recovery <recoveryname>.img

for amon:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-ra-vigor-3.15-gnm.img

notes:
-to paste into the cmd window, you must right click/paste. you cannot control/v
-to copy from the cmd window, right click. click mark. highlight everything to copy in white. now hit enter,or right click again.

holler if you have more questions :)

Okay so i was messing around with things and was able to fastboot and install roms but none work because im S-on. when I tried to install a stock gb rom the screen just goes black after htc. I really just want to lock my bootloader (which i can do) and get my phone back to stock (which i can't do. I read that if you aren't S-off which im still S-on and have installed a ics rom then you can't go back to stock with RUU. I'm not sure really what anything beyond the basics means so i just follow instructions with no luck. Do you know what im now talking about/how to help? Maybe we can skype/you control my computer (idk what that app is called) so i dont have to send you my phone but i could still pay you for that. Maybe by the hour or whatever we agree on.

Being s on has nothing to do with it.

Describe,in as much detail as possible, how you flashed the roms.

It may also be helpful for you to list your hboot version.

Okay I can flash roms through amonra. But here is the problem, The only rom ive ever been able to flash and have it work is rezrom_s4_v2.5 (the sd doesn't mount though..) and since i still have s-on it told me to flash RezROM_S4_S-ON_Kernel_Installer after. Ever since i installed that kernel i can't us ruu to get back to stock. My HBOOT is 2.11.0000. I need my phone fixed today or tomorrow before noon (because i have to return my other phone im using back to the manufacture monday) and my skills are just not good enough. Please skype me if you can today (or whatever program is best) and ill pay you generously. That will also really help me learn what im doing as well. Let me know asap what youre willing to do. my skype is eric.may.bell and my number is 248-798-9105. It would be easiest if you called/texted me first to go over details. I'd be beyond thankful if you could help me out. I know you're probably really busy but just let me know

oh and to be honest I have a recovery but it wont turn on (just goes black after htc screen.) I can't fully remember if its a stock black up or what exactly i back up. Does it have something to do with a different kernel? I really need help

i just got home from work. glad you got yourself sorted :)

you might describe how you fixed your phone so others seeing this in a search might benefit. :)
