Root Faster 4G?

Seems like it worked...although I don't think it's quite peak hours yet.

That really isn't enough of a difference to say that it worked with 100% certainty. I'd try it, but there's no 4G up here in the Sticks LOL

No 4G for miles and miles from where I live. Which stinks cause I had to start paying $10 more to upgrade to the same service I already had, 3G.

Same here, I go into NYC a few times a month to visit family and friends so I'll be able to use it then. The extra $10 a month is worth it to not have to use that Triumph anymore LOL

In Boston, getting around 4-5mbit now... I think it might be faster.

I did notice the 4g dropping kind of a lot before, so i'm curious to see if this will make it more reliable.

Well I can't say for sure that it increased my speed, but it does seem like it. I've tested many times while sitting at my desk at work and have never got above 5Mb here. First test after this change, 5.96Mb.

since i did this I havent been able to connect to 4g O.o

fixed by moving to harmonie as well as fixed a few other issues I was having

Aww man I was literally about to try this. I'm a bit scared about trying it now as I do not have s-OFF and don't think I could flash another rom to fix this.

Aww man, news to me. I was under the impression that I couldn't with TWRP unless I had s-off or something. In all sincerity I'm playing catch up here trying to get adjusted to the new terms that seem to come with HTC phones. So again just to get things straight as it stands now WITH root and TWRP recovery I can flash roms? And if so what is the deal with s-off?

It gives you the ability to boot into recovery without connecting to a computer and with S-ON you have to flash kernels seperately from the Rom through other means while S-OFF does flash kernels included in Roms

You just have to go into TWRP using fastboot to flash new ROMs. Unless you use TWRP2.1 (I think that's the version with dumlock built in).

The newbie guide has a quick reference at the bottom to show you how to flash a new ROM using fastboot, if you have forgotten how to.

Ohh. So having s-on just doesn't let me write to the phone partition that has the kernel in it. And to flash a kernel I would have to either A) turn off s-on or B) use the fastboot (computer method) ? And sorry for going off topic and bothering you guys but I do appreciate you guys taking the time to explain these things.

If you're s-on, 4EXT will let you flash kernels (boot.img)

I'm pretty sure I can get to recovery without s-off... I'm confused by this thread.

flashed a Rom that supposedly included a boot.img and it never claimed to fail.

edit: nevermind. guess selecting recovery in hboot works after using a pc and restarting, but not afterwards.

I have been using this for a while... and yes. It does work. I now see the peak speeds of 10+MBit/s I normally see on Clear's Modems. :D

Before I try this no one has had issues with the 4g since this mod? Just slightly wary of changing it to say sprint from virgin.

You notice a difference during prleak hours, about it:-) worth it if you are a heavy 4g user and yes you do need to root it
