Fatality: 2020

Olympic gold medalist and UCLA star, Rafer Johnson has died at 86. This is a huge loss not only for the sports world, but for Los Angeles.

I remember Johnson from that horrible night Bobby Kennedy was shot at the Ambassador Hotel. Johnson was among those who bravely and selflessly disarmed the shooter. But on a much brighter note, he was instrumental in bringing the Olympics back to LA in 1984.

RIP, Rafer. You were a bright spot in many lives.

A sad loss this morning as news that David L Lander, better known as Squiggy on Laverne and Shirley, has died. He was only 73.

He was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis many years ago, but kept it private for a long time. His family was with him when he died. I'm glad for that, considering how most hospitals are dealing with visitors.

You'll always be Squiggy to me, David. You and Lenny were an integral part of the show; it would've been very, very different without your crazy characters. I loved the set-ups, KNOWING that whatever Laverne or Shirley had just said, something derogatory, signaled your impending entrance. So funny. RIP and thanks for the laughs.

Loved the pair in Willow, too...

Loved his voice over work, I just wikied him, also he was on Space Ghost C2C, still an avid fan of it.

Forty years ago today, the world lost a genius, a passionate, smart, caring genius, John Lennon, my childhood idol, and single most important musician in my life. Murdered by a cowardly piece of shit in full view of a horrified Yoko. Murdered on their way back to their son, who was born on John's birthday five years earlier. Murdered while John was coming off a five-year hiatus from music, to do what he loved best, be a stay-at-home dad for his young son. He felt he'd screwed up with his older son, and was working to do better this time around. Murdered right after releasing his first album in years.

I know this doesn't technically belong here, but I'm pretty sure no one will object.

RIP, John. You're never out of my mind, memories, even life--I did a rare splurge a couple years ago by buying a beautiful artist's rendition of your face, complete with your trademark granny glasses; it's on my dresser, right in line with my spot in bed, so I see it every time I look up. My birthday hasn't been the same since that terrible night.

I learned only today, in snippets of a radio interview, that John Lennon had many psychological set backs or traumas in his younger years. His father taking him out when he was very young and demanding he choose between his mother or father as they were splitting (mother), losing a close friend and a total of 4 people by the time he was 21. There was more but I didn't catch the rest. I think it was a psychologist fan (from Liverpool) who did a recent study of his past.

John le Carré, author of so many spy novels, including the well-reviewed “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy,” has succumbed to pneumonia at 89.

RIP Mr. le Carré, and thanks for sharing your talents through so many great pages.

Hall of Fame linebacker Kevin Greene, considered one of the fiercest pass-rushers in NFL history, passed away today at the age of 58. He was a good guy and liked by everyone who knew him (well, except maybe for opposing quarterbacks during games!).

He has the third most sacks in NFL history.

No cause of death was given.

RIP, Mr. Green, and thanks for thrilling lots of fans in your career. Condolences to your family, friends and loved ones.

another country music icon K.T Oslin passed away at 78. My step mom was a huge fan and had been following her before she became popular in the 80's, rest in peace Mrs. Oslin

My mom succumbed to COVID-19 this past week. She was on morphine the entire time and did not suffer. No ceremony, no fuss, simple cremation was her wish... not like we are able to travel halfway across the country right now anyway.
