Help Faulty Nexus?

I lost my trusty Gnex this past weekend. I already have a new one through my Verizon insurance. It is definitely refurbished. I set it up and starting downloading apps, but CONSTANTLY was being told that I had no network connection. It would show full 4G in blue, then all of a sudden show no bars with an x. It did this over and over periodically. Powered it off several times, and the problem persists. Managed to get a lot downloaded, but the data connection was on and off a lot. I'm currently on Android 4.0.4 right out of the box.

I never had this problem with my original Nexus (rest in peace). Back when I first got it, I had issues with changing from Wifi to 4G and back, but that was fixed with updates. Question is, will upgrading to Jelly Bean correct this (can't do it now, don't have wifi at work)? Is it a known issue? Or is my Nexus just a dud? Should I return it? I used to be one of those lucky guys with a flawless nexus.

Yes, I had the same problem. I returned the phone and got a new refurbished model that works fine.
