Help Faulty Sim?

I've switched over from Meteor pay as you go to Three pre-pay last week. I kept my old number and my new sim was activated in the store as I was purchasing it. I have a Samsung Galaxy s4 mini and have had this phone for the past two years. Other than the battery not being the best, I've had no problems at all with it up until I put the new sim into my phone.
These are all the issues I've been having with the phone since:
*Text messages fail to send or take hours
*Takes 4-6 hours to receive messages and the same messages will send to my phone 2-3 times.
*Phone keeps freezing and restarting itself
*Earphone connection notification repeatedly pops up at the top of the phone even though there are no earphones being plugged into the phone
*When somebody calls, the phone will disconnect the call mid-conversation
*snapchat won't work
*Alarm no longer works.
*Playstore won't load and tells me to update/renew my google account.
*loses wi-fi connection a lot
*No longer notifies me of facebook or whatsapp messages
*And mainly, the battery has gotten so bad it has to be almost constantly connected to the charger to work, otherwise the battery drains within 1-2 hours.
*Notification bar will repeatedly show the same notifications, even after i cancel them.
*sometimes after the phone has been off, the lock button won't work.

You can imagine my frustration, as the phone has been working perfectly up until this point. Has anybody else experienced anything like this before? Is it possible it could be my new sim, as I haven't dropped it or gotten it wet.

And dump the Facebook app. By their own admission it eats batteries

I've checked the APN settings, the network says 3. I went into the store today and they gave me a new sim I'm waiting for it to activate. If that doesn't work I'll try restoring it to factory settings.

If not unlocked I think you would get a invalid sim message and would not be able to get on network.

Seems like a lot of glitches to be associated with sim/network swap. I'm thinking more like AMOCO suggested might be in order. It would be great if you had someone on same network that you could swap Sims with to test.
