If you do read the series...I'd recommend you wait until he completes it. I've been waiting 4 years and counting for the 5th book :< I just hope he isn't going to pull a Steven King (with the Dark Tower), since Martin isn't that young, lol.
 
Siddhartha - Herman Hesse - guide to life type book that I love
Night - Elie Wiesel, best book I have read about the holocaust

4 years! That blows

The Name of the Wind - Patrick Rothfuss. It has the potential to be great. 1st book only one out so far... think it's been close to 3 years waiting for book 2. Release date for that is 3/11 though.

The NightAngel Trilogy - Brent Weeks. Just discovered it few months ago and it is probably in my top 5 (maybe 3)
Couldn't even begin to describe it (not enough time to do it justice)

Mistborn Trilogy - Brandon Sanderson. GREAT read. Also his stand alones, Elantris, and Warbreaker are really good books.

The Gentlemen Bastards series - (drawing a blank on authors name:(). Only 2 of them out in print now but has at least 5 more planned i think.

Star Wars - various authors. Won't bore anyone with titles (there are more than 300) but there are some really great stories, pre and post movies (and inbetween)
I have read them all and all but 20 i'd say are incredible.


Those are my newest favorites (for now)

C'mon. He only waited 22 years between the first and seventh lol. I was just on the wikipedia page and it says there is going to be another one in the series. The Wind Through the Keyhole. This could be interesting

22 years...that's 88% of my life O.o quite long tbh, lol. Well I only read the when the 5th book was out, and after that, King was quite good with releasing the other books :)

OH!!! That's quite interesting! I was never satisfied with Roland's part of the ending. It was simply too anti-climatic.

Spoiler alert:
He spent his whole life searching for the Dark Tower and when he finds it, all we get is 'he opens the door and enters the Dark Tower'!!! <--I'm being very simplistic here...but from my memory, it's not too far off, lol. I was kind of dissapointed in that ending. I knew there won't be anything exciting with the ending but it's still dissapointing nonetheless.

I do love how books close the age gap. There's no age difference when it comes to enjoying a great novel :)

I kind of liked the ending.

Potential spoiler:
Especially how the first and last line of the series was the same
The new one is supposed to take place in between the the fourth and fifth book, so the ending will be the same. Kind of like how the comic books expand the series

Medival fantasy and has been adapted by HBO. Series a bit more on the mature side and deals with a lot of throne intrigues and exploits. It's quite 'graphic' with the fightings (love it) and there are a bit of sex, incest and rape througout the series. One thing I'd caution is that Martin is very slow with his works :(

It gets pretty dam good reviews on sites like Amazon too.

Dark Tower Series - I have read upto nad hlaf way throught the fourth book but i got lost i will start it again as i did enjoy them.

The Book with no Name - by anonyms - first book in the series, how can i put this withour spoling it?? vampires/dead elvis/warewolves and more, totally fantastic, great story, full of violence and laughter - Rumored to be Quinten Tarrentino who wrote these.

The eye of the moon -by anonyms - Second book from the above, second aprt with more violnce.

The Strain - Guilmere del Toro & Chuck Hogan - Vampire strain takes over new york, Guilmeros first book and its great, scond book is just out, The Fall reading this the now.

Books by Christopher Brookmyer - Scottish Writter, full of crime and laughter and sometimes outragous strories.
 
pretty much anything King (although I havent gotten into the Dark Tower series yet), Anne Rice, Dean Koontz, Michael Crichton (RIP), Grisham, Jonathan Maberry, and many others.

Favorites: Anne Rice's vampire novels, Maberry's Pine Deep Trilogy and his Joe Ledger novels are absolutely amazing, The Stand and IT are great creepy reads, Koontz Odd Thomas series was really good as well.

Jonathan Maberry - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Pine Deep Series as well as Patient Zero, and The Dragon Factory are amazing. Pine Deep is a horror series about vampires and demons, Patient Zero is kind of a super action thriller with zombies (kind of), Dragon Factory is a sci fi action thriller as well.

Rothfuss is the shit!! Mar 1st for wise man!! And i'm trying to hold off on Black Prism... hate reading a really excellent book (like name of the wind) and knowing i got at least a year till next one is out... then even longer till book 3.
Been getting some of my back log out of the way. Been reading a lot of Timothy Zahn lately, he's one of the best star wars writers around. Been reading his non-star wars stuff past week or so.

I'm not serious though. I've never read a Twilight book and will never read one. I really like French literature... so probably Le Colonel Chabert is one of my favorites.
 
so far only two. the first is "The Warded Man" and book 2 is called "The Desert Spear". I got The Black Prism so I stopped reading it for a bit. Character development is good and the way he writes makes it so you can visualize everything. Not sure if that is the last of it or not.

From what my sister told me of the series i avoid it. no, no, I haven't read it so I can't say much, but as a guy I feel like I shouldn't lol. Also. the cult teen vampire phase in the teens it started has gotten on my nerves so I avoid it out of principle.

I say mummies is next popular mythical creature/romance trend ;)

looks promising though... got it pulled up on amazon.
Not sure if i gonna start Prism after i get done reading old school Zahn

The Warded Man is on my to-read list too :)

Is the black prism series by the same guy? Which is best in your opinion?
