Help Favorite contacts gingerbread?

I have an unrooted Droid X and since the update to Android 2.3.3 I cannot figure how to add favorite contacts. In 2.2.2 when I would go into the dialer app and click the favorites tab, all of the most often contacted would be automatically added in that favorites list in order of most contacted on down. In 2.3.3, I still see the same favorites tab but all I see is "most likely" with three photos from my contacts. Under that is a favorites, but there is nothing under there. How do I add favorite contacts to this list or should the phone be doing that automatically as it had done in previous builds? Thanks for any help to this forum newbe...:)

I don't think it will add favorites automatically. If you open up your individual contacts you should see a star in the upper right hand side, if you select the star it will change color and that contact will now be added to your favorites.

Hope that helps.

YAY!!!! That worked!! I was wracking my brain trying to figure that out because before this update the favorites were automatically compiled based on frequency I spoke to a particular contact. This is exactly the answer I was looking for! THANKS!!! :D

I am still experiencing this problem. I have one user who updated his Droid X to gingerbread and is experiencing the exact same thing and I can't figure out how to fix it. I know you can add favorites manually, but that isn't what I want. I want the list to populate automatically with the most contacted number like it did in 2.2. I know this is possible, because on my Droid 3, this is how it works. And on the Droid X there is a setting that says to populate the list with the most frequently contacted, and that setting is checked. So this is just not working properly.

Has anyone come up with a fix for this yet? I can't find anything on this, I have searched High and Low.

Thanks
