Help Favorite Contacts

I am very new to this phone and to anything Android, smartphone, whatever, so bear with me. I would like to have my 4-6 most often called (and texted) contacts as individual icons or buttons. Right now it seems to be in a Rolodex fashion, where you have to scroll though them. Is there a way to change this?

I use animated widget. Works great.

I also did figure out what i needed. Do a long press on the screen (on a blank area), hit shortcut, and go to contacts. Then choose the contact, and it will then be on your screen. You can then move it around and choose where you want it to be.
