fed up with my epic 4g touch

i got so fed up with my epic 4g touch. ics upgrade turned a nice phone into a such a piece of garbage. i dont know what happened. i read all sorts of positive reviews when the European version got ics. i guess too many hands got involved and each carries had to tweek it to there system. and of course Sprint blamed it all on Samsung. Android is Google and Motorola. after quite a bit a of screamimng to Sprint they finally caved and granted me an early upgrade . i bought an HTC EVO 4g lte.well i will say im very happy good audio play back sound when you recored a video. the Samsung was horible. this phone come,s with ics and it works ,properly.this experience has soured me on Samsung for now.

Did you try a factory reset on your old samsung to see if that might fix it?
 
I'm glad to hear you got an HTC. My 3 HTC phones were basically bullet-proof. My Samsung experience has not been as good. I moved to the Epic 4G Touch because of all the raves about it, and mostly regret it, though it does have nice features. Updating to the FH13 update has helped battery life, but it still has issues.

Regarding the carriers, yes, they seem to have a need to customize it for their own ideas. Your new HTC would have been an HTC One if Sprint hadn't required HTC to customize it specifically for them.

When things go wrong, everybody likes to blame somebody else, but they're probably all at fault. (though I'm not sure how you added Motorola into it - they're not directly involved in Android other than making phones that run it.)
 
i did the factory reset. i had the firat evo 4g phone and realy liked the phone.Someone told me that Motorola and google designed Android but i could have been given wrong info.
 
I also had the first HTC EVO and loved it. It was awsome, except for the non-gorilla glass screen. Broke it twice. After the second time, I didn't want to pay another $100 for the same phone, so I went with the E4GT.

Google developed Android, but they worked with Motorola because Mot was developing the hardware platform on which Android would run. I don't think they were involved in the software side. Even now that Google owns Motorola Mobility, they're running it as a separate company, and it's still hardware-focused.
 
Sorry to hear about your experience. I had the opposite experience. My SGS2 (E4GT) worked great, the best phone I had prior to the SG3, but my Evo 3D was a piece of crap. I had the black screen of death on it 3 times, after rooting / unrooting, updating ROMs, etc.

I will probably never buy HTC again, after my terrible experience. Only Samsung phones from here on out.
 
I haven't heard much about the EVO 3D. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. I've had 3 different HTC phones and they've all been good. One had a physical keyboard eventually flake out, but the rest of the phone kept on working until I upgraded.
 
Oh boy, you are so not alone! My daughter and I got Epic4g touches last November and loved loved loved those phones. My gosh, they ran so darned well and the battery life was simply stellar. I never had to adjust anything, I never had to turn things off, turn down screen brightness, etc. No weird roaming or anything. Then along came the ICS "downgrade". After a 100% charge our phones wouldn't go 4 hours before they were dead as doornails, with NO use. Factory resets-clean installs after flashing ROM-removing batteries and replacing them, cycling the batteries, nothing worked. I finally traded in for the SIII and while it's a fabulously gorgeous phone, after 3 weeks, the battery life has deteriorated into being pretty bad. I will have 100% and 10-12 hours later I'm down to 15% with less than 1 hour usage. That is unacceptable to me. I think if Google/Samsung/Sprint don't get it together, I will be switching carriers and going with another brand phone altogether.

Just wish I knew what it was that caused the battery life to go bad so fast. I have installed Juice Defender, but really it only works when the phone is in down mode to keep things from sapping the battery while in sleep/standby which helps but does not explain why the phone battery is getting sapped. There are others experiencing the same issue which is so darned frustrating.

Have you guys ever noticed that those phones may it be from htc or samsung always have the same issues

the HTC always has issues with it dieing and overheating
the Samsung has always issues with either the digitizer or bad reception on wifi and cell
 
I just moved to a new area of town that has substantially better cell reception, and it has done wonders for my battery life, even leaving 4G on. It appears that reception quality is a BIG factor in battery life, more so than pre-ICS.
