Feedback on KitKat update?

My S4 Mini (on Verizon) is pestering me to do the Kit Kat update. I'm putting it off at the moment, wanting to hear some feedback. Comments, anyone?
 
One BIG improvement in memory use. usually I use 900k to 1 gig of ram now it's down to 600k to 700k.
Go for it. Why not?
 
OK I'm in same boat I want to upgrade to 4.4.4 but will I lose root? my phone s4 mini SGH-i257m please Facebook me sparky B sparky I can't update the traditional way cause of root so I have to use kies but I'm wondering if I will lose more than root if and when I do. I've never used kies before so is there any sort of tutorial?
