Quick question. I've been a windos user for a about 13 yearss now.. I know you feel bad for me. lol

Ok.. just bought this Desire HD.. now I find myself wondering what the difference is between a Widjet and an APP. I'm lost here. Arnt Widgets applications too?

Please compair this to the window opp. sys. as far as file management goes. I don't mean compair how the system works in regards to beeing better then Windows.

Oh.. and what are the musts as far as having things installed to help the phone work better and how to protect my over usage of my cell phone data plan.

Thanks guys/gals,

The difference between a widget and an app is an app is just a program that you have installed on your phone and a widget delivers live content to your home screens from an app. As for your data usage you can install 3g watchdog or netcounter to keep track of what you use, they will show you what you use for wifi and mobile data seperatly. The only file systems you will have access to would be on your sd card which you can manage from windows by plugging your phone into your pc and selecting disk drive on your phone. Or you can install a file management app on your phone so you can manage files from your phone.

Best thing for files structure is 'Andro Zip' from the market.

Will allow you to browse the file structure and create new folders so you can have it resembling your C:/ structure in no time.

If you're looking to keep track of data usage, look at something like 3G Watchdog or NetCounter. 3G Watchdog is good because you can alarms etc when you get close to your limit.

Thanks people. Any more sudjestions on what I should read to get upto date on smart phone ling go? I think I know most of where everything is on my phone but again I'm not sure exactly what I"m looking at when I do get there. lol.. like when in managing apps. I know this is where you can stop them from working but I don't know which ones should be left on and which ones should be shut down. Undering running apps in Manager.. there is a messurement on the right hand side of the screen that says KB, MB.. and so on. Is that what my phone has used all ready or is that the space that particular program is using on the phone? Soooo many questions I could ask but I'll leave it at this one for now. Ok so now to try and locate this management app you guys mentioned.

Thanks for your help,

GoodZ

Ps. should I get the pro version? or is the free version good enough?

JFI: HTC Desire HD not sure if it's a HD2 or not.. how do I tell?

The HTC HD2 is actually a windows mobile phone that people have modded with android, rather than an updated Desire HD. So you definitely have a Desire HD.

As for shutting apps down, you really don't need to bother closing things down - android will handle that for you. If you want to make sure something doesn't keep running in the background, exiting via the back button (rather than the home button) should suffice.

Another question.
I'm in Canada but when I use the default weather program I can't find my home town in the search feature. It mostly just gives me American cities and towns and a few major Canadian citys. Is there a better weather app I can use? If so do I delete the default one ?

Thanks again.
