Help few questions about slide settings

Ive had a fair share of android phones, but I cant seem to figure this one out. Im not getting my gmail notifications, i looked on settings and the notifications is checked, but nothing?
also 90% of the time I will send a text message and instantly it will say message not sent, usually it iwll take about 30 secs to send.

I have 3 gmail accounts set up, once in a while I notice that I get emails late, but I definitely get notifications when they come. I do have a hard time seeing the blue check mark, in the options, so double check your settings. I also sometimes get delays for SMS sending, but it always gets sent shortly after.

I just restarted the phone and it seems to be working again, Thanks.
aside from the text message not sent delay
