Few questions

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forums, I figure I'll introduce myself here so I don't have to make 2 threads. My names Dave, just bought an LG Optimus 1 and I have a few questions about it. First is this. I have my work email set up on it and it works fine. I have my outgoing server info set as smtp.telus.net
This works fine however I only have 100mb of data transfer per month. While using this as outgoing, the transfer would be charged against my account. If I use my home and/or work outgoing from my wifi, it would not count. What I'm asking is, is there an option to have it switch automatically based onm where I am? Kind of how the wifi works. If I'm at home, it picks up my home wifi, if I'm at work it picks up my work wifi and if I'm away from either, it uses my account. Can the email settings do the same thing.

The second question I have is, while I have my email set to notify, it works fine when the phone screen is on. As soon as the screen goes off (I have it set to 1 minute), the notifications don't work. I still get the email, just not notified of it. Is there a way to set this to notify regardless. My text messages notify even when the phone screen is off. I'd like the mail to do the same.

3rd question is can I have my wifi shut off automatically when the screen goes off and come back on when awaken?

Thanks in advance. Hope to hear from you soon.
Oh and by the way, if I'm not in the right section, I apologize.

check out an app called juicedefender - it's my understanding that when the screen turns off it manages connections and turns them all off by default, but i could be wrong

Yes it did do just that. Thanks. Now to find out if any apps can handle multiple outgoing servers for my email account. I know for a fact the Iphones have that option by default. Weird that google didn't do it.

I just found out something I obviously did not know. It relates to 2 of my questions. This phone by default shuts down wifi when screen turns off. That answered my #3 question. The problem however is, you can't get mail notification while wifi is off. So basically to resolve my #2 question, I have to have wifi enabled all the time. There is a setting on this phone for such. Its in home screen, settings>wireless and networks>wifi settings>menu>advanced>wifi sleep policy. You can then choose to turn wifi off when screen turns off, never when plugged in, or never. I chose never and my email notifications come through now with screen off.
