Few Tutorial Videos of Droid 3

Doh! I created a thread for this at what looks like the exact time as you haha.

I noticed it was on Engadget for awhile and no one had threw up links so I figured I'd do it.. haha just a second too late/soon. :P

What do you think the specs of the phone are? Since the Droid 2 was the same as the Droid x do you the Droid 3 will have the tegra 2 like the x2? My moneys on the tegra 2.

I'll just merge both. :)

Looks good can't wait to get more info on the specs and release info. It definitely is looking like my next phone as long as it comes with 2.3 or later. I don't care about blur or the locked bootloader(if it is locked down).

All indications are that it's an OMAP dual core processor and no Tegra 2.

This is not necessarily a bad thing. Maybe you can lay the blame on Moto, but the DX2 is a very sluggish device considering the specs it has. It's taken a LOT of tweaking to get it running more like it should have out of the box (extensive app freezing, drastically changed memory profile).

No, it's certainly not a bad thing. In my opinion it's a very good thing.

yeah i get the impression that the Moto/Tegra bond may not be as good as it was before the dX2 came out. I actually hope it's the dual core Omap and this also may be my next device. ....wonder if it will be Global.

Agree the omap is getting higher benchmarks and performance anyway isnt it? Let's hope more info starts leaking and maybe a release. I am due for an upgrade in july and the 4g phones just dont really appeal to me I don't need the faster speeds for what I do and I would rather my phone be able to last a full day.

Anyone think it's a bit on the bulky side from the videos? I hope that Motorola at least attempted to make it thinner.

It would just be really nice if a company would produce a really slim slide out keyboard.

The D2 is just as thick as the D-Inc. ...folks, that's slim.

True. And the original Droid really wasn't that thick for a slider either. It does look a little bulky in the video, but that could just be because it's not tapered like the Incredible or very rounded like a lot of other phones (both of which give the appearance of being slimmer than it really is).

still hoping for a release date this week. looking more like it too. honestly i see a silent release for this. wake up one day and bam its out. no warning.

What indication do you have that it will be released this week? Nothing that I've seen implies that. Even the Droid 2, which had a soft launch, had some measure of warning that it was coming.

just a hunch of my impatience. but as i said a date should be out this week. especially since knowing verizon they might want to 1 up the sensation and evo3d launches next week and week after and beat em. sensation is the 15th and evo3d the 24th. i dont think they wanna be last on the high end releases.

and i remember that, the guy on the bench with the D1 and D2 comparing them back in early 2010. what gets me is why the hell are they so quiet about this phone? phonedog, etc havent gotten a test model yet even which is wierd since they get the phones 2-4 weeks ahead of release.

The rumors have pegged the release in the second half of June sometime. That would coincide perfectly with the release of the Sensation and the Evo 3D. They want to compete, not jump the gun. But then again, if they did do a quiet release early, that would defeat the whole purpose of trying to "1 up" the other releases. It will probably come out around the same time as the others.

They're quiet about it because they still want to sell what they have left of the Droid 2 Global. You don't announce a replacement phone too long from it's launch. A brand new phone like the Bionic you announce well ahead of time because you're not trying to sell old stock of the previous model. Same thing happened with the X2.

I'd certainly welcome a release this week with arms wide open, but it's not likely. As you said, no one has reported receiving the phone or accessories.
