Fierce update L2RUMR0

Yes, I do have insurance. Bought it at best buy. But I do prefer to fix this one. What else can I do?

I had the same issue, pretty sure from not u rooting before the update. I tried everything, the priblem with my phone was that no apps installed so there was no launcher or browser or play store to install anything. I ended up taking it to T-Mobile and the useless girls took the back off put it back on and told me to return it. Long story short your prob gonna have to return it.

Also this goes without say but if your are rooted keep it to yourself if they ask any questions ;)

Got the update this morning. Had message new firmware available. Phone was rooted and it kept root after update.

Hmm... True! I did not unroot before the update. Now, who should I go to first, T-Mobile or Best Buy?

Ok, I went to best buy and they replaced my phone with a new one without any problem. I now have a brand new unit. Now I just have to start configuring it the way I had the last one.

Thanks for the support!

Very odd. S0 now there is no error on my Metro PCS phone. I has noticed that the MyMetro website was not recognizing my phone. I asked them and they said they were working on it. My guess metro's Fierce is due for an update soon.
current update: M27UP73
Release date: 2013 -09-17
4.2.2
kern:3.4.5

Also In hopes of helping others avoid the blank screen problem, I think it also has something to do with removing system apps aka bloatware prior to the update. I'm not sure how this affects it but I do know of many phones either not updating or having update issues when users remove bloat. Just a heads up!

Something to clear out this is not an update for a new version of the OS. After the update you still have 4.2.2.
If your phone has any issues the update will fix it. My personal phone would randomly stay with the screen on after update haven't had the issue.

I just got the update today, and my phone is hosed, errors out the wazu com.phone.android crashes, ipservice crashes, tried a factory reset from the recovery menu and i cant even go through the phones setup because everything keeps crashing. not sure what to do, dose anyone know how or where i can get the original firmware from so i can flash it from sd card i can still get into the recovery just fine.

Just got my update for the metro version. I passed lol. My phone is running just fine without it. Not worth messing up my phone or even risking it for nohting other than more crap on my phone.

I got the update like a week ago, I downloaded it then canceled the install process and my phones is great. Unless they come up with an update like 4.3 or 4.4 which I doubt it I won't be installing no silly update to mess my phone up. If it's not broken why fix it. ;)

So new version for our phone what is the version number? I Got the upgraded message but I didn't do it I unroot it then went back checking for update but it say there no update. Current version m27UP73???

My phone (metro) ran out of battery then on start up it ran the update (I think). I'm now on:
4.2.2 (no change)
3.4.5 (no change)
M2BUPB0 (from M27UP73)

Changes I noticed, on my phone if you hit the setting button (furthest right/bottom) I would go right to the task killer, now I go to settings. The camera is working much better in low light (no idea why), I even went back to the stock camera. and the battery life improved a little bit. No idea if this was just perceived or real changes.

I just unrooted my phone for tge update! Well theres no update im on metropcs and i was told tgeres a update! Well i didnt get shit! So anyone who has an answer would be very much appricated!!!!!

m2bup80 has been on my phone since about the end of January.
I wouldn't expect a update for this phone; Ever
But you never can tell. Tmo maybe....

If you like your Fierce the way it is,
might I suggest an app called FotaKill. This halts ota updates.
Since Metro is not supporting this device any more.
The other carriers that used the locked bootloaders and mediatek secure lock probably are getting tired of warranty jobs. So by blocking rooting access They're leaving you stuck with a broken phone you broke.

This Phone is NOT a candidate for Development by end users!

I wish i had read this before i updated my phone. I have the metro pcs fierce 2. I did system update last night and the phone has been frozen on the Alcatel screen since last night. I the screen jus went black

Was your phone rooted? If so did you remove system apps? I'm sure you've bought a new phone by now or had yours replaced, but when this happens if its within in the period for a return simply return it even if its rooted and just tell them the update messed up and that's the outcome. If they ask how it messed up just say it stopped near the end and after a few hours you manually restarted the phone and that's what you got. They may reflash the OS if you got it from a carrier store, but that's doubtful. They'll more than likely give you a refund or new phone. - that worked for me and my first Alcatel fierce anyway.
